GW7 Top Five Key Players

The Editor 28 Sept. 2017

Headliner – Romelu Lukaku (CRY)

Lukaku (11.7), the Belgium powerhouse, has now scored 10 goals and assisted one in all competitions (nine games), so far this season. He is a young man, in fine fettle. The Man. United front man has had the joint most shots on target (14), which is only rivaled by Salah (9.2). He has also attempted more assists with 10, than Kane (12.5), Lacazette (10.3), and Morata (10.3) who have seven, six and six respectively. Lukaku has already played 192 games (14,620 minutes) in the Premier League at just 24-years-old, but more significantly has a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvement to his name every 115 minutes. Crystal Palace have conceded over two goals a game on average this season and Man. United have scored almost three goals a game, which bodes well for Lukaku returns. Our Fix algorithm predicts a points haul of 6.8 for gameweek seven, so expect a captaincy percentage over 30%.

Harry Kane (hud)

Kane (12.5), like Lukaku, is a player in peak form. He has scored nine goals in his last five games, across all competitions. The Spurs’ forward has had a colossal 44% more shots at goal in the Premier League than any other player, with 39 – That is an average of 6.5 shots a game. Kane has managed 82 goals in just 119 Premier League games, and has averaged an FPL involvement every 98 minutes across his career to date (9,659 minutes). A stat most apt for this tie is the 14 goals and four assists the England international has accumulated in his last 12 Premier League away games. Huddersfield have been resilient in defence, but Kane has also scored a brace in his last two league outings this term. Our Fix algorithm is projecting 4.8 points for the Englishman in gameweek seven, and those that shy away from captaining Romelu could be rewarded prettily.

Antonio Valencia (CRY)

Valencia (6.6), the converted midfielder, has become one of the best right-backs in the Premier League over recent seasons. His midfield days are telling, with the Ecuadorian consistently weighing in with high attacking numbers. So far this season, Valencia, has chipped in with better averages than Walker (6.5) and Alonso (7.1) when it comes to attacking launches (3.0), crosses (4.5), and penalty area actions (4.2), as the info-graphic below confirms. In 2016/17, Valencia, was third for accurate crosses (40) from defence, behind Cédric (5.0) and Milner (6.3) who had 43 and 53 respectively. Crystal Palace are yet to score a goal in the Premier League during 2017/18, so, a clean sheet alongside possible attacking returns looks a huge possibility. Our Fix algorithm is unsurprisingly supporting several Man. United assets for gameweek seven, and a calculation of 5.2 points looks justified for the right-back.

Alexandre Lacazette (BRI)

Lacazette (10.3) has had an “under-the-radar” beginning to his Premier League career. The marquee summer signing (who cost Arsenal £46.5m), looked to be worth every penny when he scored within two minutes of his debut. Though, one goal in his next 350 minutes of football soon cast doubt over that. However, with both goals to his name in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over West Brom last Monday, he has thrust himself back into consideration. When analysing the Frenchman’s numbers, we learn that he leads the averages for shots on target (1.4), attempted assists (1.2) and penalty area actions (1.8) when compared to Jesus (10.4), Morata (10.3) and Vardy (8.5), as seen in the info-graphic below. Brighton have not conceded many this season, but have only faced one of last year’s top-six clubs, conceding two to Man. City in gameweek one. Arsenal should be scoring two goals or more here, so our Fix algorithm projection of 5.1 points looks more than achievable.

Differential - Philippe Coutinho (new)

The highly rated Brazilian has had quite an eventful summer, having been heavily linked with a transfer to Catalonian giants, Barcelona, for a sum higher than a small country’s GDP. But, Coutinho (8.9), like all good pros, has hit the ground running, as if the transfer circus had never pitched up in the first place. His averages from his limited pitch time have been superb. In just under two games, the Liverpool magician has demonstrated he is still the Premier League’s creative kingpin averaging more shots (6.0), attempted assists (4.5) and penalty area actions (11.5) when compared to 2017/18’s star-performers’ Silva (8.4) and Mkhitaryan (8.5), which can be seen in the info-graphic below. His free-kick in gameweek six epitomised his excellence. Liverpool are away at Newcastle in gameweek seven and while Newcastle have begun their campaign solidly, they have only faced one of last season’s top-10 so far, losing 0-2 to Spurs at home. Liverpool have averaged two goals a game and we expect Philippe to be in and around the goals here.
