Jesus and Nkunku were both popular options amongst Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers for Gameweek one. However, with the duo both unlikely to be available for the start of the campaign, the other forward options in a similar price bracket are compared to determine the best replacements.

Watkins (23.9) tops the Fix Projections for forwards at £8.0m and under with Gakpo (22.7) close behind. The cheaper options Solanke (21.3) and Wissa (20.9) are not far off and could be great value for money. Another option that has emerged in that price bracket with the injury to Jesus is Nketiah, the forward saw significant minutes the last time the Brazilian international was injured and could be a shrewd short-term pick for Arsenal's great opening run. Darwin's form has been impressive for Liverpool over preseason and he could be preferred to start over Gakpo by Klopp. Wilson's (16.8) projections are quite low due to the rotation risk around the Newcastle forward position, with Isak also likely to see gametime.

A look at the above image from the Fix Comparison Matrix shows why Watkins' projections are so high, the forward tops the comparison for FPL points (4.7), goals (0.4), shots on target (SoT) (1.3) and 'big chances' (BC) (0.9). Darwin's numbers are also worth paying attention to, the Uruguayan international is top for shots (2.9), SoT (1.3), attempted assists (1.0) and BC (0.9). Nketiah's numbers are unimpressive at first glance but like Wissa, most of these appearances came as a substitute which reduces his average.
Analyse team’s upcoming fixtures.
Brentford and Arsenal are third and fourth on the Fixture Analyser for the first six Gameweeks, which makes the short-term punts on Wissa and Nketiah tempting, especially considering the upgrades they allow elsewhere in the FPL squad. Liverpool and Bournemouth are ranked 11th and 12th, while Villa are all the way down in 17th.
