As the deadline looms closer, it is time to decide what to do with our precious free transfer(s). Aside from playing chips or selecting a captain, our transfers are the single most important aspect of our FPL campaign, and the importance of getting it right cannot be overstated.
In this article we crunch the numbers, analyse the fixtures, take advice from the Algorithm, and decide which player to buy, which player to sell and which player to keep for Gameweek 4.
Ivan Toney is the joint top forward (with Kane) for attempted assists (7) - taken from Opta Stats Sandbox
When excellent form and easy fixtures meet, this is usually a good indicator to bring in a player. Throw good value into the mix and it becomes hard to ignore, which is why we are recommending Ivan Toney (£7.2m) as a top transfer target ahead of Gameweek 4.
Brentford is ranked second for attack difficulty on the Fixture Planner over the next four Gameweeks and kick start that run with a home game against Everton, who have already conceded 4 goals this season.
Toney has scored 25 points (an average of 8.3 per game) clocking two goals and two assists, showing both goal threat and creative potential. In fact, Toney’s underlying creativity statistics are very impressive. He has accumulated 1.24 xA, the second-highest of all players (only Kevin De Bruyne (£12.2m) can top that with an incredible 2.23).
Brentford has the 2nd best attack fixture difficulty rating between GW4 and GW7 - taken from Fixture Planner
At just £7.2m, Toney is already looking to be one of the highest value players in FPL and, as Brentford’s talisman, should be immune from rotation as we head into the hectic schedule of Gameweek 4 to Gameweek 6.
We've helped over half-a-million people become better FPL managers.
