xFPL is calculated primarily using expected goals (xG), assists (xA), which combine as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements (xG + xA = xI), as well as expected clean sheets (xC). These numbers are a result of underlying statistics (i.e. shot type and location will give a probability of scoring = xG). xFPL is the combination of these statistics and factors in appearance and bonus points to give an overall expected FPL point score.
Ings tops the Custom Stats xFPL table for gameweek 25 so far with a score of 11.2. The 30-year-old took three shots in the box (SiB), all of which were ‘big chances’ and landed two on target. Watkins was joint-top for ‘big chances’ alongside Ings (three), he took four shots, landed all four on target but could score just once, leading to an xFPL score of 8.0. Foden was the weekend’s most creative player with seven attempted assists, the England international also took two SiB and registered an 11.1 xFPL score. Salah took three SiB and also attempted as many assists but registered only one ‘big chance’ involvement which meant a low xFPL score of 5.2. Saka had a quiet game by his standards, the winger attempted just one SiB and created two chances, registering an xFPL score of only 3.7.
As the above image from our Transfer Analytics feature shows, with a double in gameweek 27 and a home fixture against Fulham in 26, it is no surprise to see Toney the top transfer target for FPL managers this gameweek. Rashford is in second with managers bringing him back in after his blank fixture in gameweek 26. It is worth mentioning that both of these players could still blank in gameweek 28 depending on how the FA cup results go. Watkins has now scored five goals in five and is one of the few players who has a confirmed fixture in gameweek 28 and a double in gameweek 29. After missing the last two gameweeks with injury, managers have lost patience with Mitrovic and the Serbian has been sold by over 50,000 managers already. De Bruyne, Nketiah and Mahrez who all saw limited gametime over the weekend are making way as well. Moving one of Mitrovic, Nketiah or Darwin to Toney accounts for 12.3% of all transfer activity so far.
Zinchenko has now featured for 450 minutes for the Gunners over the last four gameweeks and his numbers are compared to White over the aforementioned period using the Fix Heatmaps feature. The Ukrainian international has taken 11 shots compared to just one for white and has also attempted five assists to the England international’s three. He comfortably wins out on both ‘Expected Goals’ (0.02 vs 0.36) and ‘Expected Assists (0.29 vs 0.48) and is a great option for the Gunners upcoming fixtures.
