FPL Gameweek 6 Stats: Which Players Impressed?

Dan Ndoye racks up the big chances

Dan Ndoye tops the Custom Stats xFPL table for Gameweek 6 with a score of 8.9, the Swiss international took four shots, all of which were classified as big chances by Opta and landed two of them on target.

Stats for Gameweek 6

Maxim De Cuyper goes big again

'Out-of-position' defender Maxim De Cuyper continues to thrive in a left-wing role and notched his third double-digit haul this season with a goal, clean sheet and maximum bonus points. His goal was his only shot of the match and he attempted no assists, which meant a relatively low xFPL score of 8.8.

Thierno Barry continues to impress

Thierno Barry was top for big chances (five) and shots inside the box (five) this Gameweek, no player has been afforded more big chances this season than the Everton forward (13). However, he converted just one of these attempts and notched an xFPL score of 7.6.

Nico González emerges as Newcastle's main creative outlet

No player registered more attempted assists this Gameweek than Nico González (six). The 24-year-old set up Sven Botman’s goal, but Opta classified just one of his attempted assists as a big chance, contributing to an xFPL score of only 6.3.

What is xFPL?

The expected FPL points (xFPL) model estimates how many points a player’s performance was likely to produce. The calculation uses underlying data including expected goals, expected assists, expected clean sheets, appearance points and projected bonus points.

It is best used to assess the quality of a player’s performance rather than simply looking at his final FPL score.

FPL Gameweek 7 Transfer Trends: Who Are Managers Buying and Selling?

Maxim De Cuyper is the most-bought player ahead of Gameweek 7. Over 300,000 managers had transferred him in at the time of writing, according to our Transfer Analytics tool.

João Pedro scored a brace on his return to the Chelsea squad after missing Gameweek 5. The Brazilian international is a popular acquisition, with over 300,000 FPL managers bringing him in.

Pascal Groß’s stock continues to rise. He registered his eighth FPL return of the season with an assist against Sunderland and has also attracted over 300,000 new owners.

Meanwhile, Rayan Cherki and Morgan Rogers remain popular targets after finding the back of the net in Gameweek 6.

At the other end of the market, Liverpool trio Alexander Isak, Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo are being sold in droves after missing out through injury.

Bruno Fernandes endured a disappointing outing against Spurs, returning just one FPL point. Many owners have lost patience, with over 200,000 parting ways with the Portuguese international.

Kevin Schade was substituted early with a possible injury, prompting over 100,000 FPL managers to sell the German international.

Most-popular FPL forward transfers

Buying João Pedro is the priority for FPL managers this week with seven of the top 10 forward transfer combinations involving the Brazilian international.

Yoane Wissa has failed to deliver any FPL returns since Gameweek 2 and is on the chopping block despite Newcastle still having good fixtures.

Despite impressive underlying statistics, Thierno Barry is also being sold. Alexander Isak sales are understandable given his injury but the sales of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Gonzalo Garcia less so given their impressive numbers recently.

Most-popular FPL midfielder transfers

Rayan Cherki is the most popular midfield target with the French international occupying three of the top 10 midfielder transfer combinations.

The Chelsea duo of Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers are also popular acquisitions alongside Pascal Groß.

Despite impressive underlying numbers, Morgan Gibbs-White is also being sold after just one FPL assist over the last four Gameweeks. As the Stats Sandbox image below shows, no midfielder has created more big chances (seven) than the England international this season.

Creativity Stats for all players sorted by big chances created

Bruno Fernandes, Dominic Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo and Martin Ødegaard are the other midfielders being sold.

Most-popular FPL defender transfers

Maxim De Cuyper dominates the defender transfers with eight of the top 10 combinations involving the Belgian international.

The other 2 spots are occupied by Joško Gvardiol who recorded an assist off the bench against Liverpool.

Vitalii Mykolenko, Milan van Ewijk, Neco Williams, Gabriel, John Egan, James Tarkowski, Ezri Konsa and Ben White are the defenders being sold.

Szoboszlai replacements compared

Dominic Szobozlai missed out in Gameweek 6 due to a hamstring problem and is currently a doubt going into Gameweek 7.

As the below image from our Fixture Difficulty Ratings shows, Liverpool are ranked bottom for 'Attack Difficulty' over the next six Gameweeks so getting rid of the Hungarian international at this point makes complete sense.

Szoboszlai replacements compared

Dewsbury-Hall the standout

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's numbers immediately stand out, the 28-year-old is top for FPL points (33), shots (19), attempted assists (15), big chances (three) and big chances created (three).

However, the Toffees have some tough fixtures approaching with Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool over the next six Gameweeks.

Tavernier the fixtures play

Marcus Tavernier's numbers are also impressive with the winger top for shots on target (eight), big chances created (three) and goals (three). Bournemouth are ranked sixth for 'Attack Difficulty' with games against Sunderland, Leeds, Ipswich, Fulham and Forest over the next six.

King the Budget pick

Josh King is also a great short-term option with Fulham playing two promoted sides Hull and Coventry next, the 19-year-old is also the cheapest option at just £5.6m.
