The opening Gameweek has provided the first meaningful information of the new FPL season, but the Elite XI managers are refusing to rush into early transfers.
The managers featured below have recorded an incredible 81 top-10k finishes between them.
Despite taking different routes into the season, their latest team reveal notes share several themes: trust the original plan, avoid chasing Gameweek 1 points and use another week to assess the best Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea assets.

All managers are currently leaning towards entering Gameweek 2 without an immediate transfer, unless new team news forces a change.
It is an emphatic early-season consensus from managers with 81 combined top-10k finishes: one Gameweek of information is not enough to abandon a carefully constructed plan.
Five managers specifically identify Gameweek 3 as an important point in their strategy.
Dan is still considering a Gameweek 3 Free Hit, Tarek is planning transfers to target Manchester City’s fixture against Coventry, Mark is assessing a route to Haaland, Walter is considering how to attack Gameweeks 3 and 4, and Copenhagen Wednesday will use the new information to make a chip decision.
The precise moves differ, but the shared approach is clear: roll now to create more options later.
Copenhagen Wednesday confirms that most of the Elite XI activated Bench Boost in Gameweek 1. Corey and Lari took a different route and have retained the chip for Gameweek 2.

Both managers built their squads with the later Bench Boost in mind. Their plans therefore demonstrate the value of committing to a strategy instead of reacting to one set of results.

Dan is happy to trust his squad for another week and is the only manager in this set of notes to confirm his current captaincy choice.
“The team looks good for GW2 so the plan is to roll the transfer… I still plan to captain Bruno against Ipswich… The aim is still to Free Hit in GW3 to target Man City and Liverpool players and avoid the Arsenal vs Chelsea game.”
His plan combines patience in Gameweek 2 with an aggressive way to target two leading teams one week later.

Tarek is also resisting an early transfer and remains focused on the favourable fixtures he identified before the season began.
“It's nice to have a good start to the season. The plan is to resist the urge to do any transfers this week and stick to the plan and roll. My initial plan was to target City players vs Coventry GW3 & Chelsea players vs Hull GW4.”

Mark plans to give the same squad another opportunity in Gameweek 2 before deciding how to approach Haaland’s next fixture.
“Same squad again this week… thinking to do on how to approach getting Haaland into my team for GW3. A Bruno/Isak double switch may not hold as much trepidation as I thought it might.”
He has already identified a potential two-player route, but rolling in Gameweek 2 preserves the flexibility to reassess it with another week of information.

Walter shares the preference for rolling but is already mapping possible moves across Gameweeks 3 and 4.
“It should be an easy roll this week, then I'll see how to attack GW 3/4 possibly by shipping out some United guys: could be something like Bruno/Shaw out for Semenyo/City defender or similar, and then Mbeumo to Rogers or Szobo the week after, we'll see.”
Rather than committing immediately, he has outlined a sequence that can be adjusted as more information arrives.

James enters Gameweek 2 on 81 points and inside the top 100k. With no urgent issue to address, he plans to retain the same starting XI.
“I'll be rolling out the same team again – nothing to report! Assuming Palestra isn't fit – team picks itself, same lineup as last week.”
His approach is the clearest example of trusting a successful opening-week structure.

Corey is one of the two featured managers preparing to use Bench Boost in Gameweek 2. Beyond this week, he has already set a longer-term window for his first Wildcard.
“This week I roll… Bench Boost chip will be played no matter. From there the plan is to use free transfers to tweak my team until a wildcard during international break in GW 6.”
Rolling the transfer protects his current Bench Boost plan while giving him additional flexibility before the intended Gameweek 6 reset.
The strongest point of agreement is not a player—it is patience.
All managers are prepared to trust their existing squads in Gameweek 2, while several are using the opportunity to build flexibility for Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool fixtures from Gameweek 3 onwards.
The differences are just as useful. Dan has a possible Free Hit plan, Corey and Lari are preparing to Bench Boost, Mark is exploring a route to Haaland, and others are keeping their options open until another round of matches has been played.
