One of the biggest questions for Fantasy Premier League managers this summer is simple: when will FPL launch for the 2026/27 season?
With the new Premier League campaign approaching, managers are starting to look ahead to player prices, rule changes and making their first Gameweek 1 drafts.
The official Fantasy Premier League launch date has not been confirmed yet, but managers can already start planning.
With the GW1 Squad Creator in the Preseason Pack, you can build up to five drafts using predicted player prices from the Fix Algorithm, which was 97.7% accurate last season.
Once FPL launches, those early drafts can then be refined using the confirmed prices.
Below, we’ll take a look at when FPL could launch, what previous seasons can tell us, and the key dates Fantasy Premier League managers should keep an eye on.
Before looking ahead to the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League season, it is useful to look back at when FPL has launched in previous years.
Past launch dates can give managers a rough idea of when to expect player prices, rule changes and the game itself to go live — although the exact timing can vary from season to season.
| Season | Launch Date | Days Before GW1 |
|---|---|---|
| 2016/17 | 19th July 2016 | 25 |
| 2017/18 | 12th July 2017 | 30 |
| 2018/19 | 5th July 2018 | 36 |
| 2019/20 | 27th June 2019 | 43 |
| 2020/21 | 15th August 2020 | 28 |
| 2021/22 | 23rd June 2021 | 51 |
| 2022/23 | 5th July 2022 | 31 |
| 2023/24 | 5th July 2023 | 37 |
| 2024/25 | 17th July 2024 | 30 |
| 2025/26 | 21st July 2025 | 25 |
Looking at recent FPL launch dates, the game usually goes live somewhere between late June and mid-to-late July.
Since 2016/17, Fantasy Premier League has typically launched around three to five weeks before Gameweek 1, with most recent seasons falling roughly 25 to 37 days before the opening deadline. The 2020/21 season is the obvious exception because of the disrupted football calendar.
Based on previous seasons, a mid-to-late July launch would not be a surprise for 2026/27. However, the exact timing will still depend on when player prices are revealed, when any rule changes are announced, and when FPL is ready to open the game for the new campaign.
One key sign to watch for is the start of player price reveals. In recent seasons, FPL has often drip-fed selected player prices before the full game launches, giving managers their first clues about budget structure, premium options and potential early bargains.

While we wait, our Elite XI managers have predicted the opening prices of players including Haaland, Bruno Fernandes, Cole Palmer and Gabriel.
Once the official prices start appearing, it is usually a strong indication that the full Fantasy Premier League launch is not far away.
So while there is no official Fantasy Premier League launch date for 2026/27 just yet, it now feels like the game could go live any day. Managers should keep a close eye on updates throughout the rest of July, especially once the first player prices begin to drop.
