For the second consecutive season, Jordan Pickford emerged as the top-scoring goalkeeper in FPL with 158 points, topping his 2023/24 total of 141.
Five goalkeepers got in on the creative action this season, combining for a total of 9 assists:
The standout here is Ederson, whose four assists actually ranked sixth in Manchester City’s entire squad, outdoing attacking options like Foden (3), Haaland (3), and Grealish (1). Not bad for a goalkeeper!
Jacob Murphy quietly had a phenomenal season, racking up 11 FPL assists, second only to Mo Salah (18). He also posted 159 FPL points, almost doubling his previous best of 83 from last year. Not bad for a player who was seen as a budget enabler by many.
FPL managers often lean on expected goals (xG), but as always, some players defied the data:
Only Salah took more shots (130) than Antoine Semenyo (126), but the Bournemouth midfielder ended up with just 11 goals, meaning he needed 11.45 shots per goal. Wasteful or unlucky? You decide.
While Salah (55) was predictably top of the FPL bonus points chart, Chris Wood and Matheus Cunha surprisingly finished joint-second with 41 each.
Even more impressive, Moises Caicedo topped the baseline BPS chart with 401, narrowly beating Cole Palmer (400) — showcasing his consistent underlying performances.
Cole Palmer looked like an FPL essential early on. From GW1–21, he averaged 7.8 points per game, second only to Salah’s 10.5, with 14 goals and 7 assists. But from GW22–38, he managed just 1 goal and 3 assists, averaging a dismal 3.2 points per game.
Antonee Robinson notched 10 FPL assists — all before GW24. He blanked in his final 14 appearances.
Nathan Collins of Brentford played the most minutes of any outfield player: 3420. Bryan Mbeumo (3415) and Salah (3377) rounded out the top three.
Bryan Mbeumo was the top riser, climbing £1.3m.
Nkunku endured the biggest fall, dropping £0.8m without ever establishing himself after showing promise preseason.
Chris Wood was unstoppable in the air with 8 headed goals, double that of any other player.
Evanilson won the most penalties (5), but ironically, missed the only one he took in the 2024/25 season.
Whether you’re a casual manager or FPL die-hard, these stats from the Opta Stats Sandbox paint a more colourful picture of the 2024/25 season. When planning for 2025/26 begins, digging beyond the obvious might just give you the edge.
