Except for one drop in Gameweek 3, James’ season started off well – with 73 points and a rank of 897k in Gameweek 1 – and has been green arrows ever since. Now sitting just outside the top 100k, James is in a great position to drive his team forward.

As expected, the common denominator amongst managers who had a good Gameweek 5 was the decision to put the armband on Erling Haaland (£11.9m) after his second consecutive hat-trick, earning him 34 points in just two Gameweeks. With a (frankly ridiculous) nine goals in five games, Haaland is becoming an obvious candidate for permanent captain status.

Elsewhere, João Cancelo (£7.1m) and Gabriel Martinelli (£6.4m) both delivered double-digit returns and Kyle Walker (£5.1m)earned a clean sheet. Meanwhile Pervis Estupiñán (£4.5m), who was hastily brought in to cover Reece James (£6.1m), got an assist, but was left on the bench.
