Projection Pix – Gameweek 28

2 March 2015

With the Carling cup final a distance memory and the weekends losing sides forced to lick their wounds. This gameweek waits for no man and gives no sympathy for the casual weekly player with Tuesday and Wednesday games and also hands us a double gameweek for Carling cup runners up Spurs and relegation battlers Queens Park Rangers.

So just who should you pick? Shall you throw all your eggs into one basket or stay well clear and avoid like the plague. We’ve all seen the success that a double gameweek can bring but some of us least fortunate will remember the infamous Nikola Zigic gameweek of a few years ago (yes it still hurts). Using the fantasyfootballfix player projection tool we look at the players you may be considering on spending a small part of your team value on for this pivotal gameweek.

The Fixtures

4th March - QPR v Arsenal

4th March - Spurs v Swansea

7th March - QPR v Spurs

Harry Kane, 6.3m – Points projection for gameweek 28 = 15.3

This man needs no introduction, he’s just been on fire and a call up to the England squad is surely heading Kane’s way. What can we say that hasn’t already been said? 130 fantasy points this season so far that includes 14 goals and six assists. The cup final aside Kane has scored one or more in his last four outings and on three of those occasions notched a double digit score. If you don’t own Kane then you probably were forced to play by your work colleagues or you are probably of a slightly unstable mental disposition. 95.7% of the top 1000 managers own him so there maybe a couple of managers awaiting a call from the doctor. Kane is obvious captain material and the two fixtures ahead could leave him running all the way to the points bank.

Christian Eriksen, 8.4m – Points projection for gameweek 28 = 10.4

The man that has saved Spurs many a time this season with a late goal comes in with the second highest projected points for gameweek 28. Surprisingly Eriksen has amassed 125 fantasy points this season which is only 5 behind his more illustrious English team mate. Top midfield goalscorer with 9 goals this term and a canny free kick taker Eriksen hasn’t quite found the consistency he would like but on his day he can win the match against anyone as 6 double digit scores this season proves. With the likes of Walcott, Di Maria and Sterling not really hitting the heights over recent weeks Eriksen could become a steady component in your fight to get that gameweek green arrow. 10.4 points for this double gameweek could come in very handy especially as already mentioned some other big hitters have been hiding in the shadows in recent weeks.

Charlie Austin, 6.3m – Points projection for gameweek 28 = 10.3

The only QPR player really that was worthy of making this list is QPR hitman Charlie Austin. Like Eriksen, Austin has accrued 125 points and like Kane scored 14 league goals this season but for Premier League strugglers QPR.  That’s a pretty impressive tally considering Chelsea hitman Diego Costa only has 121 points this season and is nearly 5m more. The fixtures aren’t looking too great for Rangers but Austin has proved even against the big boys he can score and did so versus the gunners in the return match albeit via the penalty spot. Those 4.3% of managers that don’t own Kane in the top 1000 I’m sure will be holding Charlie Austin in their ranks after his splendid start to the season. 10.3 points projected for a man that’s facing Arsenal and Spurs just shows how far this boy has come.

Danny Rose, 4.8m – Points projection for gameweek 28 = 8.2

After seeing off new signing Ben Davies for the left back spot Danny Rose has established himself as a first team regular and is currently Spurs’ top fantasy premier league points scoring defender. At 4.8m there is some extreme value to be had their if spurs can emulate their solid back four from last season and battle their way into the top four.10 points last time out versus West Ham will have shone the light in Rose’s direction and if Spurs can keep a clean sheet in one of their two matches this gameweek Rose could easily surpass the 8.2 points projected by our algorithm. Watch this space to find out…

Hugo Lloris, 5.6m – Points projection for gameweek 28 = 7.9

The last but not least of our fantasy picks for this gameweek 28 is the French stopper Hugo Lloris. Admired by some of the biggest clubs in Europe and has showed he is one of the Premier Leagues best with some stunning stops in recent weeks despite clean sheets not coming as often as the Spur’s faithful would like having just kept 6 shut outs all season. Spurs always play an attacking brand of football which does leave them susceptible at the back to concede shots and it’ll be Lloris’ job to keep them out and rack up those save points. 7.9 points projected means there could be one blank for the opposition and hugo may even sneak into a double digit haul.

Food for thought for the coming gameweek, perhaps you have your wildcard still and you want to splash out on 6 DGW players or ignoring as I’ve reminded you of the awful Nikola Zigic and you wish double gameweeks were banned. Good luck to you and let fantasyfootballfix guide you to the path of success.
