Projected Points Forwards

Fantasy Football Fix 14 July 2022

The Fix Algorithm point projections are now ready for the 2022/23 season and in this blog the projected points for forwards in different price brackets are analysed for the first six gameweeks.

Premium Forwards (10.0-11.5)

2022fwds1

There are only three forwards currently in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) priced at over 10.0 and it is Man. City's new signing Haaland (38.4) who tops the projections for strikers for the first six gameweeks. With an excellent record in Germany as well in the Champions League, the Fix Algorithm expects the Norwegian to profit from the sheer volume of chances. Ronaldo (33.5) and Kane (32.8) are projected to score similarly but as the below image from our Fix Heatmaps feature shows, Kane was a different beast under Conte. He averaged 6.7 points-per-game (PPG) over the second half of the season and scored nearly as many FPL points (153) as Ronaldo did over the course of the season.

Mid-Priced Forwards (8.0-9.5)

2022fwds3

Vardy (27.8) tops the mid-priced forward projections by a significant margin, the 35-year old ended the season on a positive note and with the Foxes bereft of European commitments this season, his gametime should be more consistent. Darwin (24.8) and Jesus (24.1) both start their campaigns at new clubs and the Algorithm expects the Uruguay international to get minutes straight away, at the expense of Jota (16.1). Calvert-Lewin (22.5) should take over penalty duties at Everton after Richarlison's departure and after an injury plagued 2021/22 campaign, he will be looking to make up for last time. With Lukaku's departure, Havertz (21.3) is likely to get minutes at centre-forward for Chelsea but the Algorithm is pessimistic about his point potential.

Budget Forwards (5.5-7.5)

2022fwds4

Toney (24.7) is projected to be the top scoring budget forward and with good reason. As the below image from our Stats Sandbox feature shows, no forward priced at 7.5 or under last campaign registered a higher 'Expected Goals' (xG) tally than the Brentford striker.

2022fwds5

Villa forwards Ings (24.1) and Watkins (22.1) are expected to fare well with Villa's kind run of fixtures in the first four gameweeks. Brighton and Wolves also have a kind fixture run at the start which bodes well for Welbeck (21.6) and Jiménez (21.2). Solanke (20.9) is the highest projected scoring striker from the promoted teams over the first six gameweeks.
