Low Ownership / High Points Projection

Lee 26 Oct. 2014

So what would you class as ‘Low Ownership?’

There are over 3 million FPL players this season, 3,324,316 to be precise.

I think its fair to class any player with ownership of under 5% as a ‘Low Ownership’ player.

The new FPL website on the block, FantasyFootballFix.com have come up with a new algorithm which calculates any given player’s projected points score over 1-8 Game Weeks. I have decided to concentrate on scores over 5 Game weeks.

We know, that as we speak, the current big-hitters of the FPL world are sitting in every man & his dogs FPL squad. For big-hitters read Costa, Sterling, Fabregas, Di Maria, Sigurdsson, Ivanovic & Clyne, who have all been selected by at least 25% of teams.

I’m going to try & unearth some not so popular FPL gems using this algorithm.

Let’s start with the Defence:

Zabaleta - 6.5m

Owned By: 4.7%

Games: Man Utd (H), QPR (A), Swansea (H), Southampton (A), Sunderland (A)

Projected Points: 20.8

Mertesacker - 6.0m

Owned By: 3.7%

Games: Burnley (H), Swansea (A), Man Utd (H), West Brom (A), Southampton (H)

Projected Points: 20. 6

Kaboul - 5.0m

Owned by 3.3%

Games: Villa (A), Stoke (H), Hull (A), Everton (H), Chelsea (A)

Projected Points: 16.2

Summary:

Whilst Zabaleta was a points machine last season, he hasn’t quite hit them heights yet this term. There is also a rotation concern after the signing of Bacary Sagna from Arsenal.

Mertesacker was another defender at the top of the points rankings last season but Arsenal have only managed to keep one clean sheet so far this campaign, that was against Villa in GW 5.

Perhaps a surprising choice as Spurs captain this season, Younes Kaboul started well with 13 points in his first two fixtures. Tottenham have tasty looking games coming up and you could do worse than take a second look at the big Frenchman, that’s if they’ve got the thrashing at Man City out of their system. They won’t be the last team to get a spanking at the Etihad this season.

Midfielders:

Diamé- 5.5m

Owned by: 3%

Games: Southampton (H), Burnley (A), Spurs (H), Man Utd (A), Everton(A)

Projected Points: 19.2

Jedinak- 5.0m

Owned by: 3.8%

Games: Sunderland (H), Man Utd (A), Liverpool (H), Swansea (A), Villa (H)

Projected Points: 16

Lallana - 8.4m

Owned by: 0.8%

Games: Newcastle (A), Chelsea (H), Palace (A), Stoke (H), Leicester (A)

Projected Points: 17.2

Summary:

Since his move from West Ham, Mo Diamé has accumulated an impressive 35 points from just 5 games. Admittedly he has tough upcoming fixtures against Liverpool, Spurs & Man Utd but as he proved with a goal at Arsenal, he can go to the big teams & score points.

Jason Puncheon was one of the surprise FPL gems from last season & lots was expected of him this year. He hasn’t quiet delivered just yet but he could explode into life at anytime and being on penalty duty is always a plus.

Adam Lallana hasn’t pulled up any trees since his big money move to Liverpool but as he shown last season with 9 goals & 9 assists for Southampton, once he gets a settled run in the team, he can be a major attacking asset.

Forwards:

Van Persie - 12.4m

Owned by: 2.0%

Games: Man City (A), Palace (H), Arsenal (A), Hull (H), Stoke (H)

Projected Points: 21

Bony - 8.2m

Owned by: 4.2%

Games: Everton (A), Arsenal (H), Man City (A), Palace (H), QPR (H)

Projected Points: 19.1

Adebayor - 8.3m

Owned by: 3.3%

Games: Villa (A), Stoke (H), Hull (A), Everton (H), Chelsea (A)

Projected Points: 17.6

It’s fair to say RVP has been a shadow of his former self, this may have something to do with his exertions with Holland at the world cup or the niggling injuries he had at the beginning of the season. These factors haven’t stopped Van Gaal from making the dutchman his skipper in the absence of Shrek. Surely the goals will come and what better time than in games against, Chelsea, City & former club Arsenal

Wilfried Bony was surely in most draft teams in pre-season but he just hasn’t took off yet. A goal in each of his last two outings will have done wonders for his confidence though and it may pay to side with the Swansea hitman in the coming weeks.

Emmanuel Adebayor started well with a 12 point haul at home to QPR but just hasn’t gone on. Perhaps being left out of the thrashing at Man City is the kick up the backside he needs and he can go on a goal scoring run with 3 home games in the next 5.
