GW11: Buy, Sell, Keep

14 Oct. 2022

As the deadline looms closer, it is time to decide what to do with our precious free transfer(s). Aside from playing chips or selecting a captain, our transfers are the single most important aspect of our FPL campaign, and the importance of getting it right cannot be overstated.

In this article we crunch the numbers, analyse the fixtures, take advice from the Algorithm, and decide which player to buy, which player to sell, and which player to keep for Gameweek 11.

BUY: Harry Kane

  • Cost: £11.4
  • Selected by: 20.5%
  • Projected Points (5 GWs): 25.8

Kane (1)

In a Gameweek where there are no clear cut ‘must haves’ – and many managers are simply rushing around putting out fires in their teams – sometimes we have to keep it simple and look to the tried-and-tested players with FPL pedigree, form and fixtures on their side.

With a good Gameweek 11 fixture at home to Everton, and a reasonable run thereafter, only three players are expected to return more points over the next five Gameweeks than Harry Kane (£11.4) according to our Player Points Projections tool.

For owners of Erling Haaland (£12.2m) – which, by now, is over 80% of the game – getting to Kane will not be simple, unless you have funds in the bank or two free transfers to downgrade elsewhere, but the rewards could justify the means.

Haaland may have taken the limelight (and rightly so) but Kane’s underlying numbers are very strong. The Englishman has only blanked once (in Gameweek 1) all season. Looking at the Opta Stats Sandbox, we can see he is 2nd for xG (5.77), 2nd for xFPL Points (58.78) and joint-second for shots on target (16) and is a decent captaincy option this week.
