Fantasy Football Fix 30 Sept. 2022

Caveat - Picks are in the below format

  1. No.1 predicted by Fix
  2. Alternative high-ownership option. Over 20%
  3. Differential option. Under 20%

Erling Haaland (MUN)

Haaland is the Premier League's top scorer with 11 goals and is second only to Mitrović (25) for shots in the box (SiB) (24) amongst forwards and is top for 'big chances' (14) and shots on target (SoT) (17). Only Toney and Mbeumo (four each) have created more 'big chances' amongst forwards than his three. Man. City are the league's top scorers with 23 goals scored and the Manchester side are also top for shots (118) and 'big chances' (29). Their visitors Man. United have conceded eight goals so far and have kept just two clean sheets. They are ranked sixth for 'big chances' conceded (10) and 10th for SiB conceded (57). Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 7.3 for Haaland.

Mohamed Salah (BHA)

Salah has notched two goals, three assists this season in six matches and the underlying numbers are still promising despite his low goal tally. The 30-year-old's total of 14 SiB is bettered only by Son and Rodrigo (16 each) amongst midfielders while only Zaha (five) has had more 'big chances' than his four. He has upped the creative element of his game, no player in the league has created more chances (24) than the 30-year-old. As the below image from our FPL Statistics feature shows, he is owned by just 21.8% of the top 1000 which is one of the lowest since he returned to the league. Liverpool have scored 15 goals so far, only Arsenal (17), Spurs (18) and Man. City (23) have been more prolific. The Reds are top for SiB (92) and fourth for SoT (38). Their visitors Brighton are a bit of an unknown quantity under their new manager De Zerbi but were a staunch defence under their previous manager Potter prior to the international break. The Seagulls have conceded the fewest goals (five) in the league and only Man. City (four) have kept more clean sheets than their three. They are ranked second for 'big chances' conceded (seven) and fourth for shots conceded (60) but having not played for nearly a month, the Seagulls could be quite rusty. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 6.2 for Salah.

James Maddison (nfo)

Maddison has already found the back of the net thrice this season and only Mac Allister, Zaha and Rodrigo (four each) have scored more amongst midfielders. Only Son and Martinelli (21 each) have taken more shots than his 20 and as the below image from our Match Stats feature shows, over Leicester's last five matches he is joint-top for goals scored (one), third for 'Expected Goals' (xG) (0.7), top for SoT (four) and third for chances created (six). Leicester have struggled to keep teams out but are still ranked eighth for goals scored (10). The Foxes are also ranked 12th for both shots (78) and SoT (26). Their visitors Forest have struggled at the back with 17 goals conceded, only Bournemouth (19) and Leicester (22) have shipped more. No team has allowed opponents more shots (119) or SoT (46) than Forest. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 7.1 for Maddison.
