GW7 Top Three Captaincy Picks

Fantasy Football Fix 27 Sept. 2018

Caveat : Going forward, the Captaincy picks will be in the below format -

  • Number one pick predicted as per the Fix Algorithm
  • Differential pick (Under 25% ownership)
  • Out there pick (Under 15% ownership)

Sergio Agüero (BRI)

Left out of the squad to face Oxford in the League Cup midweek, Agüero is fresh and rested for the weekend fixture vs. Brighton. The Argentinian opened the scoring for the champions vs. Cardiff and took six shots, more than any other forward in gameweek six, which is impressive considering he only played 61 minutes. In fact, no player has taken more shots than Agüero’s 31 this season, the Argentinian also leads the way for shots in the box (22) (SiB) and is second only to Mitrovic for shots on target (SoT). Man. City are the league’s most potent attack by some distance scoring 19 goals, which is four more than Liverpool and Chelsea. They also top the table for SoT, with 55 vs Liverpool’s 38. Their opponents Brighton who had the worst away record in the league last year have allowed opponents 60 SiB so far, an average of 10 per match. The Seagulls have shipped in eleven goals so far, the fourth-worst in the league and allowed 31 SoT at an average of over five per match. Their goalkeeper Ryan is sure to be in for a busy afternoon and our Fix Algorithm predicts a point score of 7.2 for Agüero.

Richarlison de Andrade (FUL)

The Brazilian winger started the season on fire with three goals in his first two games, until a red card in gameweek three caused him to miss the next two. He showed no signs of rustiness with an all-action display in gameweek six vs. Arsenal with three shots, two of which were on target. As the table shows, Richarlison has had an attempt at goal every 33.7 minutes, superior to Alli, Fraser, B. Silva and Firmino. Everton’s attacking stats are not all that impressive with only 26 SoT over their six games, perhaps dented by the sending offs in gameweek one/three and the absence of the talismanic winger in the subsequent two. However, Fulham’s defensive stats give plenty of reason for optimism. No team has allowed their opponents more SiB (73) or SoT (43) and only Huddersfield and Cardiff have shipped more goals than Fulham’s 13. They have also conceded the most ‘big chances’ (22) which is significantly more than second place West Ham, with 17. Richarlison will be afforded plenty of opportunities to make amends in front of the Goodison faithful and our Fix Algorithm predicts a point score of 4.2 for the Brazilian.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (WAT)

With two goals and an assist in the last three gameweeks Aubameyang is slowly rediscovering the form that made him a fantasy favourite in the second half of last season. Despite being shifted to the left-wing to accommodate Lacazette in a striking role the Gabonese striker scored one goal from just two shots as well as attempting an assist. This upturn coincides with Arsenal’s resurgence as an attacking force under Emery. The Gunners have fired in 37 SoT, the third highest in the league, tied with Chelsea and only behind Liverpool (38) and Man. City (55). They are also on a good run of form winning their last four games after losing the first two. In fact, Arsenal have not dropped a point at home to a club outside last season’s top-six since January 2017, winning 21 in a row. Watford, however, may prove a tough nut to crack. The Hornets have allowed opponents only 17 SoT, the fourth best in the league. It is pertinent to mention that they have played four of their six games at home so far, and are known for being far leakier on their travels. Our Fix Algorithm predicts Aubameyang to be in the points once again, with a point score of 5.2.
