GW35 Top Five Key Players

Fantasy Football Fix 19 April 2019

Headliner - Raul Jimenez (BRI/ars)

Gameweek 35 sees Wolves host both Brighton and Arsenal, with Jiménez boasting an impressive record against ‘top six' sides this season, returning four goals and five assists in 10 matches. The Mexican international has amassed a total of three goals and four assists across six home matches this calendar year, with Lacazette (eight) and Agüero (nine) the only forwards to provide more Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements during that period. 20 shots in the box (SiB) by the Mexican was on par with Lacazette and Aubameyang, with Rondón (21) the only forward to fire more. Wolves have scored six goals in the last six gameweeks, landing 12 shots on target (SoT) and hitting the woodwork twice. The Seagulls defence appears to be in tatters, conceding seven goals in their last two matches, and 12 goals in the last six gameweeks. Only six teams have allowed opponents more SiB than the Seagulls’ 49. Arsenal kept their first clean sheet awayf rom home this season against Watford last gameweek, and although the Gunners have only conceded two goals in the last six gameweeks, they have allowed opponents 16 SoT and 11 ‘big chances’. Our Fix Algorithm projects a point score of 7.8 for the Mexican.

Sergio Aguero (TOT/mun)

Meetings with Spurs and Man. United in gameweek 35 does not look too appetising on paper for Man .City, but Agüero has produced an average of 7.4 points per game against the ‘top six’ this season, scoring eight goals in seven matches. The Argentine has started in 13 of the last 15 league games (gameweeks 19-34), returning 11 goals and four assists, recording an average of 6.7 points per game in the process. As the Custom Stats table shows, no player directly contributed to more goals (15) across that period, while only midfielder Mané matched the Man. City forward for goals scored (11). 14 ‘big chances’ for Agüero during that time could only be bettered by Vardy (15) and A.Barnes (17). The Champions have scored 11 goals in the last six gameweeks, with only Leicester (12) and Liverpool (13) managing more. Their total of 113 goal attempts is second only to Chelsea’s 119. Their first opponents Tottenham have conceded five goals in the last six gameweeks, allowing 12 SoT and 12 ‘big chances’. Man. United have conceded eight goals in the same period, keeping no clean sheets, and allowing 19 SoT. Our Fix Algorithm projects a point score of 9.4 for Aguero.

Christian Eriksen (mci/BHA)

Eriksen was unfortunate to only come away with an assist during the 4-0 win over Huddersfield last weekend, after providing a total of six attempted assists and five shots, including an effort that struck the woodwork. The Denmark international has produced four FPL involvements in the last five gameweeks, returning an average of 7.0 points per game, with only Fraser matching his three assists during that period. As the Custom Stats table shows, his 20 attempted assists ranks first amongst midfielders, while only De Bruyne (five) and Fraser (six) created more ‘big chances’ than the Dane’s three. Spurs have scored nine goals in the last six gameweeks, and only five teams have landed more SoT than their 25. Their first fixture is daunting as Man. City have only conceded two goals in the last six gameweeks, but as the midweek Champions League fixture showed, Spurs are capable of scoring at the Etihad. Their second opponents Brighton are expected to be far more obliging. The Seagulls have conceded 12 goals in the last six gameweeks, allowing opponents 23 SoT and 11 ‘big chances’. Our Fix Algorithm projects a point score of 8.0 for the Dane.

Gerard Deulofeu (hud/SOT)

Although currently rated as an injury doubt, Deulofeu was close to making the squad to face Arsenal last Monday and his return would be a huge boost for Watford, with Deeney facing a three-match suspension. Since earning regular starts, from gameweek nine onwards and playing mostly in an out-of-position striker role, the Spaniard has found seven goals and five assists in 24 appearances. As the Custom Stats table shows, during that period (gameweeks nine-33), only five midfielders have had more than his 11 ‘big chances'. A total of nine ‘big chances’ created also puts the 25-year-old on par with Sterling and Hazard, and only behind Eriksen, D. Silva, Salah (each 10) and Fraser (12). Watford have scored eight goals in the last six gameweeks, taking 54 shots and landing 23 SoT. Huddersfield have conceded 17 goals over the same period, more than any other team. Only West Ham (21) have allowed opponents more ‘big chances’ than the Terriers’ 20. Their second opponents Southampton have conceded eight goals in the aforementioned period with just one clean sheet, and allowed opponents 19 SoT. Our Fix Algorithm projects a point score of 8.3 for Deulofeu.

Matt Doherty (BRI/ars)

Doherty has had his minutes managed in recent weeks due to Wolves’ F.A. Cup run, starting only three times from a possible five over the last six gameweeks, but his total of two ‘big chances’ created in that period ranks joint-first amongst his defensive rivals. The wing-back has been one of the league’s most attack minded defenders throughout the season, returning nine FPL involvements (three goals, six assists), with only Robertson and Holebas (each 10) registering more. No defender has fired more than his 33 SiB, his 16 SoT, or been involved in as many as his seven ‘big chances’. Wolves have only conceded seven goals in the last six gameweeks, allowing 20 SoT and 11 ‘big chances’. Brighton have failed to score in their last two matches, and have only scored three goals in the last six gameweeks, landing just 11 SoT. Their second opponents Arsenal have scored six goals in the last six gameweeks, landing 15 SoT. Our Fix Algorithm projects a 62% probability of at least one clean sheet for Wolves and a point score of 7.8 for Doherty.
