Getting the premium options right is going to be key to Fantasy Premier League (FPL) success in the run in and in this blog the best picks are compared using the Fix Comparison Matrix over the last six gameweeks. Averages are used since certain teams have had blank gameweeks.
De Bruyne has averaged 7.6 FPL points per game over the last six gameweeks and the Belgian maestro is top across the comparison for shots on target (SoT) (one), attempted assists (3.8) and penalty area actions (11). He has also averaged 0.4 goals and 0.6 assists per game which is impressive.
Son tops the comparison for FPL points (8.4), goals (0.9) and SoT (one) but the South Korean has seen a slump over the past couple of games. Despite being top for goals, he has averaged only 2.1 shots per game and has relied on his clinical finishing. In terms of creativity, his 1.6 attempted assists per game is behind De Bruyne (3.8) and Kane (2.3). He is showing plenty of penalty area actions (6.9) though which is encouraging.
Kane has struggled to find the back of the net of late with an average of 0.3 goals per game across the last six gameweeks, and that sees him feature in joint-last. It is not for the want of trying though, as no player in this comparison has managed more than his 3.3 shots per game. His finishing touch must have deserted hi temporarily, as he is bottom for SoT (0.6). He has been creating chances though, with only De Bruyne (3.8) creating more chances per game than his 2.3.
Salah has managed a healthy 7.2 points per game over the last six gameweeks and averages a goal every other game. He tops the comparison for shots (3.3) but comes in third for SoT (0.8). His creativity numbers have dropped from earlier in the season and he has averaged just 1.3 attempted assists per game over the last six.
Mané has emerged as an attractive option, now playing more as as centre-forward in Klopp’s system, but the Senegal international's numbers indicate he might not be worth the outlay. He is bottom of the comparison for FPL points (4.8), shots (1.8) and attempted assists (0.3).
The Kane vs. Son dilemma in particular, is one that is giving a headache to all FPL managers, and the two are compared more closely using the Fix Heatmaps feature. Son (59) has outscored Kane (45) significantly over the last six gameweeks but it is worth looking at the underlying numbers to project whether this is expected to continue.
Son has scored six goals to Kane's two but the statistics paint a different picture. Kane is ahead for 'Expected Goals' (3.03 vs 2.48) and shots (23 vs 15), but Son has landed more SoT (four to seven). The England international has racked five assists to the South Korean's one and has attempted 16 assists to his 11.
If we take a final look at Match Stats feature which looks at player numbers from the last five games for both Spurs and Leicester (gameweek 35), Son definitely edges it. However, the overall numbers for the season would indicate that Kane remains a great option with multiple routes to points. Managers should continue to show faith in whichever Spurs asset they currently hold.
