GW3 Top Five Key Players

Fantasy Football Fix 18 Aug. 2022

Headliner - Gabriel Jesus (bou)

Jesus has started the season on fire with two goals and as many assists in his first two games. The Brazilian international is top amongst forwards for shots in the box (SiB) (eight) and shots on target (SoT) (three). Amongst forwards, only Haaland (four) and Núñez (five) have been afforded more 'big chances' than his three. As the below image from our Transfer Analytics feature shows, he is the third-most transferred in player this week with many bringing him in for Núñez. Arsenal are joint-top for goals scored (six) over the opening two gameweeks and are second only to Liverpool (25) for SiB (23). The Gunners are also joint-top with the Merseyside outfit for 'big chances' (seven). Their hosts Bournemouth have conceded four goals so far and only Leicester, Man. Utd and Southampton (six each) have been leakier in defence. Forest (42) are the only team to have allowed opponents more shots than the Cherries‘ 34. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 5.5 for Jesus.

Mohamed Salah (mun)

Salah has notched a goal and an assist in the opening two gameweeks and is ranked fifth for SiB (four) amongst midfielders. He is also ranked third for 'big chances' (two) while only Harrison (10) has created more chances than his nine. As the image below shows from our Elite XI feature, the Egyptian international is currently the most popular captaincy choice amongst the most successful managers. Liverpool have scored just three goals so far but are top for both SiB (25) and 'big chances' (seven) which indicates the goals will come. Their opponents Man. Utd are joint-bottom for goals conceded (six) while only Forest and Southampton (13 each) have allowed opponents more SoT than their 11. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 6.3 for Salah.

Ivan Toney (ful)

Toney has racked up a goal and two assists in the opening fixtures and is top amongst forwards for both chances created (six) and 'big chances' created (two). He has been afforded just three SiB but two of those were 'big chances' and only three forwards have been afforded more. Brentford are ranked second on our Fixture Planner for the next six gameweeks which makes Toney a great long-term pick. Brentford are joint-top for goals scored (six) so far and are ranked second for SoT (10). Their hosts Fulham have only conceded two goals so far, but have been a bit fortunate. Only West Ham and Leicester (seven each) have allowed opponents more 'big chances' than the Cottagers (six). Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 4.4 for Toney.
