GW29 Buy, Sell, Keep

31 March 2023

As the deadline looms closer, it is time to decide what to do with our precious free transfer(s). Aside from playing chips or selecting a captain, our transfers are the single most important aspect of our FPL campaign, and the importance of getting it right cannot be overstated.

In this article we crunch the numbers, analyse the fixtures, take advice from the Algorithm, and decide which player to buy, which player to sell, and which player to keep for Gameweek 29.

Caveat: This article was written on March 31st, prior to the Premier League press conferences.

BUY: Marcus Rashford

  • Cost: £7.0m
  • Selected by: 52.5%
  • Projected Points (Next 6 GWs): 27.7

Currently the third most popular player in the game, Marcus Rashford (£7.0m) is selected by over half of all FPL managers. That number rises significantly to 84.7% for managers who are in the Top 100k according to Live Insight.

If you are one of those managers who doesn’t yet own him, he should be the #1 transfer target for double Gameweek 29. Indeed, he is likely to be the top captaincy candidate, with the Captain Reveal feature predicting a captaincy rate of over 50% for managers in the Top 100k.

For those who use the Player Points Projections tool, Rashford does not rank highly for Gameweek 29. This is largely due to the yellow injury flag which FPL has over him and will adversely affect the Algorithm’s calculations. Be sure to keep an eye on the Premier League press conferences for more information, but it is anticipated that Rashford will be back and ready for the Newcastle fixture.

Rashford is also a great long-term pick. He has another confirmed double in Gameweek 34, and is likely to have yet another in Gameweek 37. He does blank in Gameweek 32, however, managers who are using the Free Hit chip should be able to navigate this with ease.
