Raphinha was the standout performer with 1.0 xG and four shots. He also created three chances with only Harrison (five) managing more. H. Barnes impressed for Leicester, the winger took four shots, landed two on target and his goal proved decisive. D. James (two), Harrison (two) and Rodrigo (three) took seven shots between them with a total of just 0.51 xG.

Liverpool emerged 1-0 winners in a hard fought game at Anfield and on paper deserved their win with an xG of 1.98 compared to 1.33 for West Ham. The Hammers took 13 shots, landed five shots on target (SoT) and really should have found the back of the net as their xG (1.33) shows.

A popular captain option as usual, Salah posted strong underlying numbers with six shots, three SoT and an xG of 0.50. However, he was outshone by Mané who registered an xG of 0.72 with one fewer shot (five). Alexander-Arnold was the most creative player on the pitch with five attempted assists and no player managed more over the weekend across all matches. Fornals was guilty of missing some good opportunities, the midfielder took three shots and landed two SoT with an xG of 0.47 but failed to beat Alisson. Lanzini also fluffed a good chance with an xG of 0.30.

Watford vs Arsenal

Arsenal put in a clinical finishing performance with three goals from a total of just 1.06 xG which saw them emerge victorious by a goal at Vicarage road. The Gunners scored from three of just four SoT while Watford found the back of the net just twice from seven SoT. The Hornets registered an xG of 1.43 and had their wastefulness in front of goal largely to blame for their loss.

Dennis was the chief culprit for the Hornets with an xG of 0.71, the Nigerian took four shots but tested Ramsdale just once. Sissoko continues to put forth his credentials as a budget midfielder option, the Frenchman took two shots and also attempted three assists. Saka scored from his only shot and had one of his two attempted assists converted and continues to look the best Arsenal attacking option ahead of their double gameweek in 29. Martinelli also found the back of the net, the Brazilian took three shots with an xG of 0.18 and is also worth considering for next week and beyond.
