xFPL is calculated primarily using expected goals (xG), assists (xA), which combine as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements (xG + xA = xI), as well as expected clean sheets (xC). These numbers are a result of underlying statistics (i.e. shot type and location will give a probability of scoring = xG). xFPL is the combination of these statistics and factors in appearance and bonus points to give an overall expected FPL point score.
Mac Allister tops the Custom Stats xFPL table for gameweek 26 with a score of 12.3. The Argentina international took three shots in the box (SiB), attempted as many assists and had two 'big chance' involvements. Ødegaard took a whopping 11 shots but only three of these were in the box and none of them was a 'big chance' which meant a low xFPL score of 5.3. Zinchenko and Maddison were joint-top for attempted assists (four), the Ukrainian international also took two SiB while Maddison had none, they registered xFPL scores of 3.9 and 4.3 respectively. Darwin, B. Johnson and Martinelli were joint-top for SiB (four each) with the Uruguayan winning on xFPL (8.3) compared to 7.1 for B. Johnson and 3.9 for Martinelli. The gameweek's highest scorer Salah scored from two of his three shots and had two of his three attempted assists converted, the Egyptian international registered three 'big chance' involvements and notched an xFPL score of 11.5.
As the above image from our Transfer Analytics feature shows, with Brighton and Brentford playing twice in gameweek 27, it is no surprise to see Toney, Mitoma, Estupiñán and Mee top the transfer-ins this week. Salah comes in at number five but it is worth mentioning that the Egyptian international does not have a fixture in gameweek 28 due to Fulham's participation in the FA Cup. Mahrez and Nketiah who both did not start in gameweek 26 are being sold in droves along with De Bruyne. Schär has also been sold by nearly 100,000 managers but is expected back for Newcastle next weekend as his absence at the Etihad was only due to a concussion he suffered in the Carabao Cup final. Nearly 40% of all midfield transfers so far involve buying Mitoma with Mahrez or A. Pereira out the most popular routes. Up top, Toney accounts for over 50% of forward transfers with the likes of Nketiah, Felix, Kane and even Haaland making way. In defence, it is a bit more scattered with the transfers split between Estupiñán, Mee and R. Henry. The duo of Tarkowski and Bueno are the ones being sold.
As the above image from our Fix Comparison Matrix shows, Dunk is the most secure defender for minutes having played every minute for Brighton over the last six gameweeks with Veltman, Webster and Estupiñán seeing reduced minutes at times. Estupiñán is comfortably ahead for FPL points per game (7.2) and averages 1.0 shots and 1.8 attempted assists per game. He has at least double the penalty area actions (4.4) of any of the other defenders and this makes him excellent for bonus point potential as well. With all of them priced similarly, the Ecuadorian international looks to be the best pick from the Seagulls' backline.
