Much to Craig’s frustration, things have not been straightforward since the restart with the Elite XI manager’s rank going up and down like a yo-yo. With the rank tiers so concertinaed, every captaincy blank or 50/50 transfer decision seems to incur a large arrow – green or otherwise.
After back-to-back rank drops in Gameweeks 22 and 23, Craig is smiling once more with a healthy green arrow heading into double and blank Gameweek 25. The Arsenal partnership of Bukayo Saka (£8.4m) and Martin Ødegaard (£7.0m) delivered 14 points between them but it was keeping hold of Bruno Fernandes (£9.8m) which made the difference in an otherwise low-scoring Gameweek. His 12-pointer against Leicester City added to a tally of 63 points, taking Craig from 235k to 175k in one Gameweek.

After an initially decent start back after the Wildcard, my rank – and my mood – has steadily been tumbling from around 60k to 250k prior to this week. The standout mistakes have been moving Kepa to Ederson, which has cost me and my fellow sellers 20 points to date, and – uncharacteristically – not being more aggressive with a move for Mahrez in Man City’s double Gameweek 23. Bruno’s decent return in Gameweek 24 has pulled me back up to 170k, but the damage is done, and I’m at least 30 points down on where I would have otherwise been. Which, in a season as tight as this one, feels quite a lot.
