Season So Far

Sitting atop the Elite XI Managers league, with a rank of 34k, and all of his chips still available, it would be difficult to evaluate James’ season as anything but a categoric success so far.

James’ start to the season was solid, if unspectacular, with a combination of red and green arrows. But his fortunes changed in Gameweek 8, when a Gameweek Rank of 175k in the world launched him into the Top 100k, a rank tier he has not left since.

Impressively, James has allowed two major opportunities to go by without deploying his Triple Captain chip. The first being Gameweek 20, when Erling Haaland (£12.2m) played both Manchester United and Tottenham. James will consider this a bullet dodged, as one return across both games earned the Manchester City forward just 8 points; a disappointing tally for the Norwegian in a single Gameweek, let alone over two fixtures.

The second opportunity was Gameweek 22. With a goal and an assist in the first of two fixtures, Marcus Rashford (£7.2m) has already rewarded those who put faith in him with the chip; with the Leeds fixture still to play, time will tell if those who didn’t use the Triple Captain chip are to have their punishment extended.
