If you are the sort of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) manager who enjoys going against the grain – or takes satisfaction from finding hidden gems before the crowd – then lowly selected players (differentials) can often provide value and offer a source of points which won’t be shared by many other managers. As long as the player picks are justifiable, differentials can give you an edge over your mini-league rivals.
In this article we look ahead to Gameweek 22 and find players from each position who are currently selected by less than 10% of managers, but could reward their owners in the upcoming Gameweeks.
Caveat: This article was written on 31st January, with domestic cup ties still to be played.
Leeds is ranked top for best defensive difficulty between now and Gameweek 26 - click here for the Fixture Planner
There are only two goalkeepers who play twice in Gameweek 22 and the other – David De Gea (£4.9m) – is owned by 10%+ of managers. That means, if you want a differential goalkeeper who plays twice in double Gameweek 22, then Illan Meslier (£4.5m) is your man.
Looking a little longer term, the fixtures aren’t too difficult, with games against Everton and Southampton in Gameweeks 24/25, but the sting in the tail is two back-to-back fixtures against Manchester United, two games in which you would bet against clean sheets for Leeds, given the current form of Manchester United, who have registered more shots on target (32) than any other side since the restart (Opta Stats Sandbox). Still, with shots on target comes the opportunity for keepers to make saves and earn BPS; alternative routes to points.
