GW21 Top Three Captaincy Picks

Fantasy Football Fix 31 Dec. 2018

Caveat : The Captaincy picks are in the below format -

  • Number one pick predicted as per the Fix Algorithm
  • Differential pick (Under 25% ownership)
  • 'Out there' pick (Under 15% ownership)

Harry Kane (car)

Kane tops the algorithm for a third consecutive week as Spurs look to bounce back from their defeat against Wolves when they go up against Cardiff in gameweek 21. The Englishman has managed four goals and three assists in the last six gameweeks, racking up 45 points at an average of 7.5 points per game. As the Fix Custom Stats Tableshows, he has taken 16 goal attempts and seven shots on target (SoT) and is ranked sixth amongst forwards in both metrics. Spurs scored 18 goals in this period with only Man. United (19) and Liverpool (21) scoring more. While only West Ham (36), Man. United (47) and Liverpool (49) have landed more SoT than their 31.  Although Cardiff have kept two consecutive clean sheets, their defensive record at home is woeful. No team has conceded more goals than the Bluebirds’ 20 on home turf, and only Fulham (56) have allowed opponents more SoT than their 54. Our Fix Algorithm backs Kane as the standout captain pick this week, with a point score of 7.9.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (LEI)

In a battle of two consistently inconsistent teams, Everton and Leicester face off at Goodison park in gameweek 21 and the Toffees’ creative engine Sigurdsson is our differential pick for this week. As the Fix Custom Stats Table shows, no midfielder has taken more shots than Sigurdsson’s 32 in home matches, and he has accounted for five of their 18 goals. He has also created 25 chances and only Seri (27), Townsend (28) and Hazard (30) have created more. The Toffees have been strong at home this season, scoring 18 goals in their 10 matches and only the ‘top six’ teams have managed to score more on home turf. They have attempted 99 shots in the box (SiB) which is just behind Chelsea (101), Liverpool (111) and Man. City (144). Leicester have conceded just six goals in their last six matches and have only allowed 22 SoT, but have showed their inconsistency having lost to Cardiff in gameweek 20 after beating Chelsea and Man. City. It’s anyone’s guess as to which Leicester side turns up in gameweek 21, but our Fix Algorithm backs Sigurdsson to be heavily involved in Everton’s attacking play with a point score of 5.3

Sead Kolašinac (FUL)

Only the second defender to be featured in the captain picks this season. The big Bosnian has potential at both ends of the pitch as Arsenal face Fulham at the Emirates in gameweek 21. Over the last six gameweeks (despite missing a game) he has created six chances and only Robertson (seven), Hadergjonaj (seven), Targett (10) and Digne have more amongst defenders. He also has 15 penalty box touches with only Morrison (17) and Doherty (20) finding themselves in the opposition box more frequently. It is also worth mentioning that he played 100 minutes fewer than the pair, so his numbers are even more impressive. Arsenal have only conceded nine goals in their 10 home matches while only Chelsea (eight) and Liverpool (three) have conceded fewer. Their opponents Fulham have scored just six goals on the road, the lowest in the league, and only Burnley (70) have attempted fewer shots than their 83. Our Fix Algorithm predicts a 47% chance of an Arsenal clean sheet, the second highest this week, and a point score of 5.4 for Kolašinac.
