Fantasy Football Fix 11 Jan. 2023

Headliner - Erling Haaland (mun/TOT)

Haaland has picked up where he left off with three goals since the restart which is joint-top amongst forwards alongside Kane. Only Núñez (16) has taken more shots than his 13 amongst forwards and he is joint-top with the Uruguayan international for both shots on target (SoT) (six) and 'big chances' (seven). As the below image shows, he is rated at 100% to start, as per our Predicted Lineups, which is significant given the usual uncertainty with Guardiola's teamsheets. His first opponents Man. Utd have been good defensively and have conceded just four goals in the last six gameweeks. They are ranked second for 'big chances' conceded (five) but only seventh for SoT conceded (25). His second game against Spurs looks more promising, the North London side have shipped 11 goals in the last six gameweeks and have kept just one clean sheet. They are ranked 12th for shots conceded (72) and 11th for SoT conceded (27). Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 13.1 for Haaland.

Kevin De Bruyne (mun/TOT)

No midfielder has attempted more shots (11) than De Bruyne since the restart, with only Rashford (five) and Son (six) landing more attempts on target than the Belgian international (four). No midfielder has attempted more assists (12) or created more 'big chances' (four). The reigning Champions are top of our Fixture Planner for the next six gameweeks so bringing in De Bruyne is a good long term move keeping in mind their double in 23 as well. Man. City have scored just five goals since the restart but are top for shots (54) and 'big chances' (14). Their hosts for the first game Man. Utd have conceded no goals over the last three gameweeks and are fifth for both shots in the box (SiB) conceded (19), and SoT conceded (10). Their second opponents Spurs have conceded four goals over the same period and are ranked 14th for shots conceded (41). Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 10.2 for De Bruyne.

Anthony Martial (MCI/cry)

Martial has found the back of the net just once since the restart but as the Stats Sandbox image below shows, he is joint-top for SiB (six) amongst Man. Utd players, alongside Rashford, over that period and only the latter has registered a higher 'Expected Goals' (xG) (1.33) figure than the Frenchman (1.2). He is also top for 'big chances' (three). The Red Devils have scored seven goals since the restart with only Brighton (nine) more prolific. Their total of 33 SiB is only bettered by Liverpool (34) and Man. City (39) while no side has landed more SoT than their 20. Their first opponents Man. City have conceded just two goals over the same period and are top for both SoT conceded (four), and 'big chances' conceded (zero). Their second opponents Palace are likely to be more obliging, the London side have conceded seven goals since the restart with no side shipping more. No team have allowed opponents more SoT than the Eagles (18) over the last three gameweeks. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 6.7 for Martial.
