Fantasy Football Fix 16 Jan. 2023

xFPL review

xFPL is calculated primarily using expected goals (xG), assists (xA), which combine as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements (xG + xA = xI), as well as expected clean sheets (xC). These numbers are a result of underlying statistics (i.e. shot type and location will give a probability of scoring = xG). xFPL is the combination of these statistics and factors in appearance and bonus points to give an overall expected FPL point score.

With two games still to go in double gameweek 20, Rashford tops the Custom Stats table for the weekend with an xFPL score of 12.1. No player was afforded more 'big chances' (three) than the England international while only Ward-Prowse (four) landed more shots on target (SoT) than his three. March has been the gameweek's highest scorer so far with 19 FPL points, the 28-year-old was joint-top for chances created (four) and landed three of his four shots in the box (SiB) on target, leading to an xFPL score of 11.6. C. Wilson was unfortunate not to score, no player took more SiB (seven) than the Newcastle forward and he landed three of those attempts on target. He had two 'big chance' involvements and registered an xFPL score of 5.9. Nketiah's owners can count themselves unlucky as well, the 23-year-old who notched a 7.2 xFPL score took five SiB and was afforded two 'big chances'.
