Fantasy Football Fix 17 Sept. 2020

Headliner - Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang (WHU)

With five goals and two assists in his last four Premier League matches at the Emirates, Aubameyang averaged 10.3 points per game (PPG) at home during 'Project Restart' as per our Fix Heatmaps feature. No Fantasy Premier League (FPL) midfielder landed more than his eight shots on target (SoT) on home turf during that period or were afforded as many as his five 'big chances'. Only Sterling (2.92) could better his 2.72 expected goals (xG) figure. Arsenal scored three goals on the opening day and only Liverpool (four) fared better. Their total of nine SiB was only beaten by West Ham, Everton, Newcastle (all 10), Leicester (11) and Liverpool (17). West Ham conceded two goals to Newcastle and only West Brom (11) and Leeds (17) allowed opponents more shots in the box (SiB) than their 10. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 6.2 for Aubameyang.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (WBA)

Calvert-Lewin met Digne’s free-kick with a bullet header that gave Lloris no chance in gameweek one, recapturing the form he showed when Ancelotti first took charge of Everton in gameweek 19 last season. The 23-year-old returned eight goals and one assist in 11 appearances before the season was paused after gameweek 29, averaging 5.6 PPG. Only Martial (66) – then listed as a midfielder in the game – picked up more than his 62 FPL points, amongst current forwards. The Everton man is a popular transfer target this week as per our Transfer Stats feature with Ings, Werner and Mitrovic owners jumping ship. Only Leicester (11) and Liverpool (17) took more SiB than Everton’s 10 on the opening day. Their total of two ‘big chances’ was bettered only by Palace, Wolves, Arsenal, Liverpool (all three) and Leicester (four). West Brom conceded three goals on the opening weekend, only Leeds (four) were more porous. No team allowed opponents more ‘big chances’ than their four. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 4.1 for Calvert-Lewin.

Lucas Digne (WBA)

Digne set up the winning goal against Spurs from an in-swinging free-kick to earn his sixth FPL assist of the calendar year and Robertson (eight) is the only defender with more in that time. In the second half of last season (since gameweek 21), only Alexander-Arnold (30) and Robertson (35) supplied more than his 27 attempted assists and only four defenders could better his total of four ‘big chances’ created. Alexander-Arnold was the only defender to complete more crosses than the Frenchman (34 to 31). Everton were one of only six teams to keep a clean sheet on the opening weekend and look very solid with the addition of Allan and Doucoure to their midfield. Only Leicester (seven), Liverpool (six), Southampton and Arsenal (both five) restricted their opponents to fewer shots than the Toffees’ nine. West Brom failed to find the back of the net on the opening day and only Fulham (one) took fewer SiB than their three. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a 50% chance of an Everton clean sheet and a point score of 5.4 for Digne.
