GW19 Top Three Captaincy Picks

Fantasy Football Fix 24 Dec. 2018

Caveat : The Captaincy picks are in the below format -

  • Number one pick predicted as per the Fix Algorithm
  • Differential pick (Under 25% ownership)
  • 'Out there' pick (Under 15% ownership)

Harry Kane (BOU)

Kane comes into the home fixture against Bournemouth off the back of a strong showing against Everton where he took a mammoth eight shots, five of which were shots in the box (SiB). As the Fix Custom Stats Builder table shows, over the last six gameweeks, no forward has scored more goals than the Englishman’s five, and he also tops the table for shots (21) and shots on target (SoT) with nine. He also notched two assists, only Rashford managed more amongst forwards with four. No team has scored more goals than Spurs 17 in this period, and only Man. United (39) and Liverpool (41) managed more SoT than Spurs’ 36. With the golden boot in his sights, Kane will be relishing the prospect of going up against a Bournemouth defence that has conceded 12 goals in the last six matches, only Cardiff (13) and Everton (13) have conceded more. Only Cardiff (58) and Burnley (65) have allowed opponents more SiB than the Cherries’ 56, and only seven teams have conceded more ‘big chances’ than their 12. Our Fix Algorithm expects Kane to add to Bournemouth’s misery, with a projected score of 7.0

Anthony Martial (HUD)

Man. United will be playing their first home game under the management of Solskjær against Huddersfield in gameweek 18, and the Frenchman will be looking to spearhead the Red Devils’ quest to rediscover attacking football at Old Trafford. As the Fix Heatmaps feature shows, the Frenchman has averaged eight points per game at Old Trafford, and has attempted 14 assists, and scored three goals in just five appearances. He has also taken eight shots, seven of which were in the box. Averaging 26 minutes per chance created and 45 minutes per goal attempt at home under Mourinho’s defensive philosophy, one can only imagine Martial improving on these numbers under new management.  Their opponents Huddersfield have conceded 17 goals in their eight away matches, the sixth worst in the league and allowed 20 ‘big chances’, averaging over two a game in both metrics. Our Fix Algorithm backs Martial to get attacking returns, with a point score of 5.9

Danny Ings (WHU)

Ings finds himself featured in the captains article for the first time this season, after helping Southampton to two wins in the last two matches under new management. No forward has scored more goals than his three or taken more shots on target than his four in the last two gameweeks. The striker averages a goal attempt every 26 minutes, a chance created every 64 minutes and has a goal involvement of 73% for the Saints whenever he has been on the pitch. Only Liverpool (16) have had more SoT than the Saints’ 13 over the last two matches, and only Spurs (seven) have scored more goals than their six, indicating the new manager bounce is well and truly in effect. West Ham have conceded 11 goals in their eight away matches, and allowed opponents 48 SoT, an average of six a game. Our Fix Algorithm expects the Hasenhüttl revolution to continue at St. Marys, and a point score of 4.1 for Ings.
