In this blog, the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) numbers from Tuesday's matches are analysed using the Fix Match Stats feature.
Man. Utd were deserved winners as they racked up 18 shots, six shots on target (SoT) and 2.02 'Expected Goals' (xG) against their South Coast visitors who could only muster a paltry 0.64 xG.
Rashford topped the stats for shots (three) and xG (0.46) while Martial took two shots, landed none on target and registered just 0.31 xG. Shaw, the gameweek's highest FPL scorer so far, scored from his only attempt and created two chances, but the 0.06 'Expected Assists' (xA) number indicates that these were not high quality chances. The left-back is the fourth most transferred-in player this week as per our Transfer Analytics feature despite his next game being against Man. City. B. Fernandes registered his second assist in as many matches and was the Red Devils' chief chance creator with four attempted assists. Billing (with 0.33 xG) was the biggest threat for the Cherries.
Two of the division's most solid backlines went head to head at the Emirates and neither side registered a total over 1.0 xG in a tight game. Arsenal had significantly more shot volume with 17 shots and four SoT compared to just eight and one for their visitors, but these were not 'big chances'.
Schär and Joelinton (0.24 xG each) topped the xG numbers with Arsenal's attacking trio of Martinelli, Nketiah (0.12 xG each) and Ødegaard (0.11) managing just 0.35 xG between them. Saka, Xhaka and Martinelli (three each) were top for chances created for Arsenal, while Trippier also displayed his constant attacking prowess with three chances created. As the below image from our Fixture Analyser shows, both sides are ranked in the top four for fixture difficulty for the next six gameweeks and should be invested in.
