xFPL review

xFPL is calculated primarily using expected goals (xG), assists (xA), which combine as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements (xG + xA = xI), as well as expected clean sheets (xC). These numbers are a result of underlying statistics (i.e. shot type and location will give a probability of scoring = xG). xFPL is the combination of these statistics and factors in appearance and bonus points to give an overall expected FPL point score.

Mbeumo and Shaw top the Custom Stats xFPL table for gameweek 19 so far with scores of 9.8 each. No player was afforded more 'big chances' than Mbeumo (two) while only Doherty (four) took more shots in the box (SiB) than his three. The gameweek's highest FPL points scorer with 16 points, Kane, took three SiB and attempted as many assists but was afforded only one 'big chance' which meant a relatively low xFPL score of 8.3. Groß has been the gameweek's most creative player so far with six attempted assists while he also scored with his only SoT. The German registered a 6.6 xFPL score.

Doherty vs Perišić

Spurs assets are likely to be popular ahead of their potential double in gameweek 20 (as long as they and Man. City do not require a reply in the F.A. Cup) and as the above image from our Fix Heatmaps feature shows, Doherty, has outscored Perisic for FPL points (16 to 12) since the restart and the Irishman also beats him for shots (six vs one), 'Expected Goals' (xG) (0.48 vs 0.28) and attempted assists (four to three). With Cancelo's gametime looking a risk and managers needing funds to upgrade Kane, Doherty could be a great pick.

Early Transfer Trends

As the above image from our Transfer Analytics shows, even with the gameweek 20 deadline a week away the transfer market is busy with the top five targets all seeing over 100,000 transfers each. Out of the top five transfer targets only Kane is likely to have a double in gameweek 20 while both Rashford and Shaw have a difficult fixture against Man. City. Cancelo has been sold by nearly 100,000 managers after no returns since the restart with Akanji, Shaw and Botman the primary benefactors from those sales.
