GW13 Top Three Captaincy Picks

Fantasy Football Fix 22 Nov. 2018

Caveat : The Captaincy picks are in the below format -

  • Number one pick predicted as per the Fix Algorithm
  • Differential pick (Under 25% ownership)
  • 'Out there' pick (Under 15% ownership)

Sergio Agüero (whm)

Rested over the international break, Agüero will look to continue his scoring run as Man. City visit the London stadium where they have scored 13 goals in their last three visits in all competitions. The league’s top scorer has taken more shots (50) than any other forward, and only Kane has fired in more shots on target (SoT) (20). He also leads the way for penalty box touches (90) and is second only to Wilson (15) for ‘big chances’ with 11. The champions are also the most prolific team in the league by some distance with 36 goals (ahead of Chelsea, 27), at an average of three a game. After a terrible start, the Hammers defence has improved over the last six matches conceding 41 shots in the box (SiB), the eighth lowest in the league, and conceded just seven goals. It is worth mentioning though that three of these games were against Brighton, Huddersfield and Burnley, all of which reside at the bottom of the table and have minimal goal threat. Our Fix Algorithm backs Agüero as the standout captain pick this week, with a point score of 6.4

David Silva (whm)

Another Man. City asset to benefit from a rest over the international break is the diminutive playmaker D. Silva. Over the last six gameweeks, only Hazard (20)  and Fraser (19) have created more chances than D. Silva’s 18, and the Spanish magician has added another string to his bow with his impressive goal threat numbers – only Salah (15) and Paterson (13) have taken more SiB amongst midfielders. With De Bruyne and B. Silva injured, the champions will rely on D. Silva more than ever to create chances, and he should also find himself taking most of their set-pieces. The Hammers have conceded 18 goals and have kept just one clean sheet and only Fulham have faired worse. 58% of their matches have involved both teams scoring, and 42% of their matches have involved four or more goals. Our Fix Algorithm backs Man. City to continue their prolific scoring form, with a point score of 5.6 for the Spanish magician.

Lucas Digne (CAR)

The first defender to find his name mentioned in the captain’s article this season. Digne is a popular replacement for the injured Mendy this gameweek, and has cemented his place as first choice left-back at Baines' expense for Everton. As the table shows, no defender has created more chances than the Frenchman’s 11 over the last six gameweeks, and with Sigurdsson likely to miss out with injury, the left-back should find himself taking all set-piece duties for the Toffees. Everton kept an unlikely clean sheet at Stamford bridge in gameweek 12, and their defensive numbers indicate that it was no fluke. No team has conceded fewer SiB (30) than the Toffees over the last six weeks, and only Tottenham (three), Liverpool (three) and Man. City (two) have conceded fewer goals. Their opponents Cardiff have mustered only 22 SoT over the same period, the fifth lowest in the league. In fact, no team has fired in fewer SoT than the Bluebirds 13 on their travels, and they have scored just two goals on the road, the lowest in the league. Our Fix Algorithm predicts a high probability of an Everton clean sheet this gameweek (43%) and a point score of 4.7 for the Frenchman.
