GW13 Top Five Key Players

Fantasy Football Fix 23 Nov. 2018

Headliner - Sergio Agüero (whu)

The league’s top marksman scored his eighth league goal of the season during the 3-1 win over Man. United in gameweek 12, his 14th attacking return. The Man. City forward ranks first in the league for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements (14), goals (eight), shots (54) and shots inside the box (SiB) (42), while only Alonso (86) and Hazard (82) have scored more than his 80 FPL points. The Argentinian has offered fairly consistent returns this season, delivering six points or more in eight of the 12 matches and his average of 6.7 points per game ranks top amongst forwards. Over the last four gameweeks, Agüero has had seven 'big chances', matched only by Morata and no player has been involved in more. Over the same period, his 16 goal attempts and 13 SiB rank him first amongst all players while no player has taken more than Agüero’s eight shots on target (SoT), which can only be equalled by Morata, Martial and Arnautovic. Man. City have scored nine more goals than any other team this season, including 15 in their last four league matches at an average of 3.75 per game. The Cityzens have scored 13 goals in their last three visits to the London Stadium, with the wide pitch allowing their wingers to flourish. The Champions top the attacking stats by some distance, firing in 93 SoT, with second placed Chelsea managing only 71. The Hammers who have conceded the fourth highest ‘big chances’ in the league (28) are sure to be in for a tough afternoon, and our Fix Algorithm predicts a point score of 6.4 for Agüero.

Mohamed Salah (wat)

Salah found his sixth goal of the season in a 2-0 win over Fulham in gameweek 12, taking a total of four shots during the game with three SoT. Only Hazard (seven) has found the back of the net more times amongst midfielders, while only Sterling and Hazard (each with 11) have been directly involved in more goals than the Liverpool midfielder (10). No player has taken more SoT this season (20), while only Agüero has fired more SiB (42 to 33). Over the last four gameweeks, Salah's five FPL involvements is joint-first alongside Martial, Agüero and Sterling. Amongst midfielders, seven SoT by Salah over that period can only be beaten by Martial (eight), while surprise package, Paterson, is the only midfielder to have taken more SiB (11). The Egyptian's three 'big chances' during this time also rank him first. Wolves (82), Chelsea (90) and Tottenham (92) are the only teams to have registered more goal attempts on the road than Liverpool, but Liverpool have scored nine goals, the sixth highest in the league. Watford have allowed opponents 42 SiB at Vicarage Road, the 13th worst in the league, and conceded eight goals on home soil, only Newcastle (10), Burnley (10), Fulham (13) and Cardiff (14) have conceded more. Our Fix Algorithm backs Salah to profit, with a point score of 5.1.

Richarlison De Andrade (CAR)

The out of position Brazilian continued his fine form by scoring for his national team over the International break. Six goals in 10 games for Richarlison this season gives him an average of 0.6 goals per game; matching Sterling and Hazard and only topped by Martial amongst midfielders, with 0.7. The Brazilian has been adapting well to his striker role, contributing to four goals (three goals, one assist) in the last five gameweeks. Only Salah (36), Barkley (39) and Martial (54) have scored more FPL points (33) amongst midfielders during that time. Across the last four home matches, the 21-year-old has taken a total of 12 goal attempts and his nine SiB can only be beaten by Sigurdsson (10), Salah (10), Paterson (12) and Sterling (12), across midfielders. Everton’s fixtures have been mixed of late, with some tough away games combined with more favourable home fixtures but they have scored nine goals in their last four home matches which is on par with Liverpool and only Man. City have scored more in that time (16). West Ham (66), Fulham (75) and Burnley (78) are the only teams to have allowed opponents more SoT than the Bluebirds’ 64, and with 11 goals conceded in their five away trips theu hould prove to be penetrable opponents for the Brazilian. Our Fix Algorithm predicts a point score of 4.8 for Richarlison.

Raúl Jiménez (HUD)

Jiménez provided his eighth attacking return of the season before the international break setting up Cavaleiro’s goal against Arsenal in the 1-1 draw. Amongst forwards, only Lacazette, Aubameyang (nine each), Wilson (13) and Agüero (14) have provided more FPL involvements this season, while only Arnautovic (16), Agüero (19) and Kane (20) have fired off more than the Wolves striker’s 14 SoT. Over the last three gameweeks the Mexican international has been directly involved in three goals and only Agüero has contributed to more amongst forwards, with four. No forward has created more 'big chances' than Jiménez (two) during that time, while only Success has provided more attempted assists (eight to six). Wolves were very unlucky to come away from the Emirates with just a point in gameweek 12, as they put in a strong attacking display with 13 shots, three ‘big chances’ and five SoT. Only Liverpool (179), Chelsea (217) and Man. City (246) have taken more shots than Wolves 174 over the course of the season, and it is just their conversion rate of 6.9% that has held them back from climbing the goalscoring charts. Fulham (31), Cardiff (25) and Burnley (25) are the only teams to have conceded more goals than Huddersfield’s 22 this season, and Jimenez should have plenty of opportunities to register attacking returns. Our Fix Algorithm predicts a point score of 3.8 for the Mexican.

Lucas Digne (CAR)

With Mendy sidelined after undergoing knee surgery his current owners are hunting high and low to replace the Man. City left-back. Digne has started in each of the last eight matches after replacing Baines in gameweek four and has picked up three clean sheets and one assist so far this season. As the table shows, over the last nine gameweeks the French left-back has provided a total of 19 attempted assists ranking top amongst defenders, ahead of Doherty (17), Trippier (14), and Alonso (12). 11 goal attempts by the 25-year-old during that time can only be bettered by Alonso (14) and Doherty (16), amongst defenders. Everton have kept a total of just three clean sheets this season but two of those have come during their last four matches against Crystal Palace and Chelsea. They have conceded just six goals at Goodison Park this season and only Man. City, Spurs (each with four) and Liverpool (one) have shipped fewer goals on home turf. Over the last six gameweeks, no team has conceded fewer SiB than the Toffees 30, indicating that their early season defensive malaise is at an end. Their opponents Cardiff have fired in just 13 SoT on their away trips, and have also scored the fewest away goals in the league, with two only. A clean sheet for the Toffees looks very likely, and with Sigurdsson still a doubt to start the match through injury, set-piece duties greatly add to the Frenchman’s fantasy appeal. Our Fix Algorithm predicts a point score of 4.3 for Digne.
