GW12 Top Three Captaincy Picks

Fantasy Football Fix 8 Nov. 2018

Caveat : The Captaincy picks are in the below format -

  • Number one pick predicted as per the Fix Algorithm
  • Differential pick (Under 25% ownership)
  • 'Out there' pick (Under 15% ownership)

Mohamad Salah (FUL)

When last season’s golden boot winner hosts a team that have conceded an average of nearly three goals a game, the captain’s choice becomes pretty obvious. Over the last six weeks, only Pogba (21) and Sigurdsson (21) have taken more shots than the Egyptian, and no midfielder has had more shots inside the box (SiB) over this period. Liverpool have scored 12 goals over their five home games, which only Chelsea (15) and Man. City can rival (24) on their own home turf. Fulham’s defensive woes have been well documented. Only Burnley have allowed opponents more shots on target (SoT) (74) than Fulham’s 68, and no team has conceded more than the Cottagers’ 29. They have also allowed opponents 31 ‘big chances’, the second worst in the league. In a fixture that is possibly worthy of the triple captain chip, our Fix Algorithm predicts a mammoth score of 10.0 for Salah.

Harry Kane (cpl)

Kane followed up his goal vs. Wolves in gameweek 11 with a brace vs. PSV in the Champions League, indicating that he his approaching the form that has made him a Fantasy Premier League darling over the past few years. The striker had six SoT in gameweek 11 which was more than any other player and as the table shows, over the last six weeks, no player can match Kane’s total of 15 SoT. Amongst forwards, only Aubameyang has scored more goals (six) than Kane (four) when looking across the same period. Spurs are the league’s best away team with 18 points out of a possible 21, and have managed 14 goals, conceding just six. Their opponents Palace have the worst home record in the league, with just two points in their five home games, conceding seven goals and scoring just two. The Eagles have conceded 10 goals in their last five matches, and our Fix Algorithm backs Kane to add to their misery, with a projected score of 5.4.

Alexandre Lacazette (WOL)

Lacazette continues to fend off competition from Aubameyang for the central striker's role by scoring a great goal vs. Liverpool in gameweek 11, taking his total to five goals for the season. Over the last six weeks, the Frenchman has taken 16 shots, six of which were SoT. The Gunners have scored 13 goals in their last five matches, and only Chelsea (67), Man. Utd (69) and Man. City have fired in more SoT (88) than Arsenal’s 58 over the season. After a great start, Wolves have slumped a bit, with three losses in a row, conceding six goals in those games. They have allowed 12 SoT during this period which is the same number as struggler's Fulham, and only two fewer than Cardiff. Chelsea (14) and Man. City (18) are the only sides that have picked up more points at home this season, and our Fix Algorithm backs the Gunners to find the back of the net again, with a projected score of 6.0 for Lacazette.
