Fantasy Football Fix 9 Dec. 2020

Mohamed Salah (ful)

Salah found his third double-digit return of the season in the 4-0 win over Wolves to take his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) average to 8.7 points per game (PPG). The Egyptian has amassed four goals and one assist in five away matches, where he has averaged 7.6 PPG. Amongst FPL midfielders, only B. Fernandes and Barnes (each nine) have landed more than his eight shots on target (SoT) on the road, while only Rashford (14) and Zaha (16) can better his 10 shots in the box (SiB). He is the second most transferred in player this week as per our Transfer Stats feature. Liverpool have scored nine goals over the last four gameweeks and only Man. Utd (10) have been more prolific. Only Man. Utd (24) and Chelsea (25) have landed more SoT than their 22. Fulham have conceded seven goals over the last four gameweeks while only Sheff. Utd (eight) have been more porous at the back. West Brom (23) and Leeds (26) are the only teams to have conceded more SoT than the Blades’ 22. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 7.5 for Salah.

Jamie Vardy (BHA)

With four goals and three assists in the last six gameweeks, Vardy has earned more FPL points (40) than any other forward. As the Stats Sandbox shows, totals of 11 SoT and eight 'big chances' over that period each rank second-best in the league, just behind Bamford (12 and 10 respectively). Though he has scored twice from the penalty spot in that time, the 33-year-old ranks fourth-best for non-penalty expected goals (xG) (2.79), and can only be beaten by Calvert-Lewin (2.95), Werner (3.19) and Bamford (5.30). Leicester have scored four goals in as many matches, taking 50 shots and landing 14 SoT. Brighton have conceded four goals in as many matches, keeping one clean sheet. The Seagulls have allowed opponents 35 shots and six ‘big chances’ over that period. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 5.9 for Vardy.

Danny Ings (SHU)

Ings marked his return to action with his sixth goal of the season, calmly converting from the penalty spot to steer Southampton to a 2-1 win over Brighton. Prior to injury, the Englishman had amassed five goals and two assists over the first seven gameweeks, averaging 6.7 PPG as per our Fix Heatmaps feature. Only Bamford (13), Kane and Calvert-Lewin (each 14) could better his nine SoT during that time amongst FPL forwards. Southampton have scored seven goals over the last four gameweeks and only Man. City (eight), Liverpool, Palace, Chelsea (all nine) and Man. Utd (10) have scored more. They have taken 42 shots and 17 SoT over those matches. Sheff. Utd have conceded eight goals over the last four gameweeks, the most in the league. Only West Brom (23) and Leeds (26) have conceded more SoT than their 22. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 6.5 for Ings.

Jack Grealish (wol)

Having directly contributed to five goals in his last four matches (two goals, three assists), Grealish has averaged 8.0 PPG. The Aston Villa talisman produced six SoT over that period (GW7-10) which only ranks behind B. Fernandes (seven) amongst FPL midfielders. Just four players in his position can better his 1.44 expected assists figure, while only De Bruyne (five) and B. Fernandes (six) created more 'big chances' than his four. He is owned by 36.4% of teams as per our FPL Statistics feature. Villa have scored five goals over the last four gameweeks, taking 46 shots and landing 15 SoT. Wolves have conceded seven goals over the aforementioned period and only Sheff. Utd (eight) have fared worse. They have allowed opponents 13 SoT and eight ‘big chances’ over those matches. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 3.7 for the Englishman.

Jannik Vestergaard (SHU)

Vestergaard scored from a set-piece for the third time this season as Southampton came from behind to win at Brighton. Only Calvert-Lewin (four) has netted more headed goals than the Danish centre-back (three) this campaign. Amongst FPL defenders, only Mings (five), Chilwell, Zouma (each six) and Dallas (seven) have landed more than his four SoT. Southampton have conceded five goals over the last four gameweeks, keeping one clean sheet. They have conceded 21 SoT over those matches and only Fulham, Sheff. Utd (both 22), West Brom (23) and Leeds (26) have fared worse. Sheff. Utd’s attacking numbers however give plenty of cause for optimism. The Blades have scored just two goals over the last four matches and only Arsenal (one) have scored fewer. Meanwhile, Spurs (33), Burnley (31) and Newcastle (26) are the only teams to have taken fewer shots than their 40. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a 50% chance of a Southampton clean sheet and a point score of 4.6 for Vestergaard.
