GW12 Top Five Key Players

The Editor 16 Nov. 2017

Headliner - Mohamed Salah (SOU)

Salah’s (9.4) stock has risen exponentially since gameweek 11 drew to a close, having acquired almost 190,000 new owners – more than any other play across the Fantasy Premier League (FPL). He is also leading the player march when it comes to shots on target (24) – Kane (12.8), Lukaku (11.5) and Agüero (11.8) are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively with 22, 18 and 14. Delivering his owners an FPL involvement (goals and assists) every 85.3 minutes so far this season is a level of return that betters FPL favourite, Kane, who has an output of 96.8 minutes. Southampton travel to Anfield in gameweek 12 having only won one of their last six league games. Liverpool have scored seven goals in their last two league games and Salah and co. should be too stern a test for the relatively resolute defence of Southampton. Our Fix algorithm predicts Liverpool will score 2.29 goals and given Salah has been involved in 48% of their goals so far this season a score of 5.7 points, as the Fix algorithm predicts, looks more than achievable. This is the second highest prediction across all positions.

Richarlison de Andrade (WHU)

Richarlison (6.5) has had more shots at goal (39) than any other midfielder so far this season – even dwarfing this week’s headliner, Salah, who has had a shot at goal a total of 37 times. Eight FPL involvements from 11 gameweeks for a tender price-tag of 6.5 makes Richarlison a “must have” for all based on present form. His dynamic and direct style of play mean there is always a chance of a goal or assist even if Watford are having an off-day. West Ham come into this gameweek 12 fixture off the back of a hiding at the hands of Liverpool. The Hammers have conceded nine goals in their last three league games and with Fonte (4.9) out for the long-term and a new manager coming in this could be another heavy defeat for the East London outfit. Richarlison is certainly one to be considered for captaincy this weekend, and is projected to score 6.1 points by the Fix algorithm, that is the highest across the board.

Romelu Lukaku (NEW)

Lukaku (11.5), is often over-looked as an out and out number nine and an unintelligent striker with limited contribution during attacks for Man. United, yet, Man. United’s record signing has the joint-most attempted assists of premium forwards up to gameweek 11. The Belgium record goal scorer (a title earnt during this international break) has laid on 14 goal-scoring chances to his teammates, beating the likes of Kane, Morata (10.3) and Jesus (10.5) with 10, nine and seven respectively. The Man. United forward who is owned by almost half of FPL’s player base faces Newcastle, Brighton and Watford over the next three gameweeks, so investing in his stock for these fixtures is certainly a wise move for those with a transfer(s) to spare. It is also worth noting that he has had 1.6 shots on target per game, a figure that trumps the likes of Jesus, Lacazette (10.3) and Sánchez (11.8) who all have averaged 1.3. Newcastle are likely to be without both Lascelles (4.8) and Merino (5.0) for this gameweek 12 clash which will make it hard for the Magpies to keep United and Lukaku at bay. Our Fix algorithm is forecasting 5.1 points for the Belgium.

Álvaro Morata (wba)

Morata (10.3) is the second most transferred in player ahead of gameweek 12 and is likely to rise in price in the next few days. His minutes per FPL involvement currently sits at 72.2 minutes, which is better than other premium options such as Jesus, 75.5, Kane, 96.8, and Lukaku, 99. Seven goals and three assists in 720 minutes of football is exceptional returns for a forward priced at just over 10.0. To put that into perspective, during the same game time (720 minutes) at the start of last season, Costa, managed seven goals and two assists – and went on to score 20 goals and assist eight in Chelsea’s triumphant season. Chelsea travel to the Hawthorns in gameweek 12 and will be looking to continue their revival which saw them beat a highly regarded Man. United side under master tactician, Mourinho. Morata has been directly involved in 53% of Chelsea’s goals in the Premier League this season, so if they do score 1.69 goals as the Fix algorithm predicts we expect their Spanish forward to be involved. A Fix algorithm rating of 5.0 points for the Spaniard this week.

Differential - Charlie Daniels (HUD)

Daniels (4.8) has dropped in price twice already this season, yet, has attempted more assists (11) than Bellerin (5.9), Kolasinac (6.0), Alonso (6.9) and Walker (6.6) who each have attempted, 10, nine, eight and six respectively. Across his two seasons playing football in the Premier League he has contributed an average of 7.5 FPL involvements per season. The attacking left back has a goal and assist already to his name this season and with a very favourable set of fixtures that includes; HUD, swa, BUR, SOT, cry, over the next five gameweeks he could add two more FPL involvements during that schedule, putting him firmly on track with his season average (7.5). The Fix algorithm predicts 20.2 points for Daniels over the next five gameweeks, rating him better than Azipilicueta (6.8) with a prediction of 20.0, Holebas (5.0) with 12.8 and Cédric (5.0) with 11.4. Huddersfield have only scored three goals in their last six games, scoring none away from home since their first game of the season, 11 gameweeks ago. All of which bodes well for Daniels owners and our Fix algorithm predicts 4.7 points.
