GW10 Top Five Key Players

Fantasy Football Fix 25 Oct. 2018

Headliner - Mohamed Salah (CAR)

Salah returned to the scoresheet in gameweek nine, finding his fourth goal of the season to secure the 1-0 away win over Huddersfield.15 shots on target (SoT) by the Egypt international this season ranks first amongst all players beating Agüero, Pogba (both 14), Kane and Mitrovic (both 13). Similarly, no midfielder has been involved in more than Salah’s eight ‘big chances’, while only Kane, with nine and Wilson, with 10, have registered more across all positions. Over the last four gameweeks, the 26-year-old has fired a total of 10 shots inside the box (SiB) which only Mahrez and Hazard can topple amongst midfielders with 11 apiece. Despite some concerns over his finishing at times, Salah has proven to be a reliable captain option this season when playing at Anfield. He has found the back of the net in all three of his home fixtures against teams outside the ‘top six’, returning points against West Ham, Brighton and Southampton. Only Fulham (61) and Burnley (57) have allowed opponents more SoT than Cardiff’s 51 and only Fulham (25) have conceded more goals than the Bluebirds’ 19. Our Fix algorithm projects Liverpool to score the most goals this weekend with 3.29, and the Egyptian to be involved, with a point score of 8.4

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang (cry)

Aubameyang looks set for a recall to the starting lineup in gameweek 10, having provided four goals and one assist from just 57 minutes off the bench in the last two gameweeks. The Arsenal forward has been directly involved in eight goals this season while only Wilson and Agüero have provided more FPL involvements with 10 each. Despite his limited minutes, Aubameyang is closely matching his average of 6.7 points per game from the end of the 2017/18 season where he returned 10 goals and four assists in 13 appearances. 6.1 points per game by the 29-year-old this season is just behind Agüero’s average of 6.4 and no forward has outperformed the pair. Over the last four gameweeks Arsenal have matched Man. City’s total of 12 goals scored, outscoring every other team by at least five goals. Palace are in a bit of a slump at the moment, with just one point from their last four games, and are likely to commit men forward to go for the win, which should afford Aubameyang plenty of opportunities on the counter-attack. Given his four goals as a substitute in the last two games, the Gabonese striker has certainly made a claim for a starting role, and our Fix Algorithm projects a point score of 2.8 for the Arsenal man.

Danny Ings (NEW)

Ings enjoyed a promising start to his Southampton career, scoring three goals from his first four starts. His total of 19 SiB this season can only be bettered by Wilson (21), Mitrovic (23), Kane (25) and Agüero (34) amongst forwards. In fact, the Saints have taken 125 shots on goal, the fifth highest in the league, but have the second lowest conversion rate (4.8%), which explains their paltry total of six goals. The last three gameweeks have proved testing, with Southampton unable to score a single goal versus Wolves, Chelsea or Bournemouth. But seven goal attempts by Ings during that period, with four SiB and three SoT ranks top amongst all of his teammates. In his last three home fixtures against Chelsea, Brighton and Leicester, the 26-year-old took an average of over three shots per game, with two SoT in each. His opponents Newcastle find themselves in a similar state of malaise, sat at the bottom of the table with just 2 points from nine games, and have allowed opponents 132 shots on goal, only three teams have allowed more. Ings should have plenty of opportunities to get back on the scoresheet, with a projected point score of 3.8.

Ryan Fraser (ful)

Fraser has been directly involved in 37.5% of Bournemouth’s 16 goals this season, scoring three times himself and providing three assists across the opening nine matches. 24 attempted assists by the Bournemouth midfielder can only be bettered by Hazard (25), Willian (26), D. Silva (26) and Sigurdsson (27), and as the Comparison Matrix shows,  no player has created more ‘big chances’ than Fraser (eight) this season. Despite finding just one assist over the last four gameweeks, the Scotland international ranks fourth best in the league with his total of 12 attempted assists during that period. Bournemouth’s overall attack has been impressive this season; their total of 16 goals scored is level with Liverpool and Spurs, while only Chelsea (20), Arsenal (22) and Man. City (26) have scored more. The league leaders are the only side to have had more ‘big chances’ than Bournemouth this season (36 to 29). The Scot could have hardly asked for more obliging opponents, Fulham have allowed opponents more SiB (105) and SoT (61) than any team in the league, and conceded 25 goals, the second highest in Premier League history after nine weeks. Our Fix Algorithm projects a point score of 4.5 for the Scottish winger.

Andrew Robertson (CAR)

Liverpool kept their sixth clean sheet of the season at the expense of Huddersfield in gameweek nine allowing their opponents just one SoT during the game. Their total of three goals conceded this season is on par with Man. City and no other team have allowed fewer goals. Klopp’s side have been particularly strong on home turf this season, keeping four clean sheets from just four games at Anfield and no team have conceded fewer ‘big chances’ (2) in home games. Robertson has amassed a total of seven attempted assists across Liverpool’s four home league matches and only Salah has produced more amongst teammates, with 8. Lucas Digne (10) is the only defender to provide more attempted assists, over the last four home matches. Cardiff have scored just one away goal so far, the lowest in the league, and only Huddersfield (9) and Brighton (11) have had fewer SoT than Cardiff’s 12 on their travels. Our Fix Algorithm predicts a 68% probability of a clean sheet for Liverpool and a point score of 6.6 for Robertson.gw10top5robbo
