In this blog, the Fix Algorithm projections for Goalkeepers in various price brackets are analysed.
Man. City kept 20 clean sheets last season so it is no surprise to see Ederson (36.0) at the top of the goalkeeper projections. Alisson's omission is down to his present injury concerns which might clear up by gameweek one. As the below image from our Fixture Planner shows, Arsenal have a great run of fixtures over the first eight gameweeks and the Algorithm expects Ramsdale (33.9) to rack up the points.
Brighton are ranked fifth on the above ticker and as the below image shows, from our Stats Sandbox feature, the Seagulls were ranked sixth for 'Expected Goals conceded' (xGC) last season (45.34), ahead of Arsenal (45.82). Sánchez (31.4) also has the advantage of his deputy Steele being priced at just 4.0 which ensures FPL managers have a backup in case of any injury/COVID absence. Mendy (33.5) looks great value at just 5.0 with only Liverpool (32.56) and Man. City (23.95) faring better than Chelsea for xGC (34.28) last season.
Rotating 4.5 goalkeepers for home matches has been a successful strategy in past seasons and the Fix Rotation planner suggests a rotation of Meslier (31.1) and Sánchez, who are ranked fifth and sixth in the projections. This provides a run of home fixtures over the first eight gameweeks with only one game against last season's top six teams.
