More than one million FPL managers have bought Pascal Groß ahead of Gameweek 6, while over a quarter of a million have sold Bruno Fernandes. But should you follow the crowd?
Using Fantasy Football Fix’s Transfer Analytics tool, we analyse five popular Fantasy Premier League transfer combinations, comparing recent returns, underlying numbers and upcoming fixtures.
From budget midfielders to a Brighton forward attracting serious attention, here are the moves shaping the Gameweek 6 transfer market.
Groß leads the way with 1,012,151 transfers in, comfortably ahead of Kevin Schade (547,915) and Kostoulas (448,516).
Brighton’s popularity extends to defence, with 411,403 managers buying De Cuyper ahead of their trip to Sunderland. Newcastle’s Hall completes the five most-bought players shown, attracting 355,652 transfers in.

At the other end of the market, João Pedro is the most-sold player shown, with 517,050 transfers out. Szoboszlai follows on 297,404, ahead of Palmer (269,510) and Bruno Fernandes (254,441).
Calvert-Lewin (241,715) and Tzolis (240,335) are also being sold in large numbers.

Transfer totals, prices, injury flags and projections reflect the data available at the time of writing and may change before the deadline.
Tzolis to Groß is the most popular combination, showing 2.6% in Transfer Analytics. Kinský to Raya ranks second at 2.0%, with Szoboszlai to Groß also displaying 2.0%.
Below, we focus on five prominent midfield and forward swaps from the top 10.

Why are managers buying Groß?
At £5.9m, Groß has delivered 32 FPL points over his last three fixtures, producing two goals, three assists and six bonus points.
His underlying numbers offer encouragement too: nine goal attempts, two big chances created and an xFPL total of 25.97. His role as Brighton’s first-choice taker of corners and indirect free-kicks adds another route to attacking returns.
However, his actual score exceeds his xFPL total. The numbers support his appeal, but managers should be cautious about expecting another 32-point spell.
Brighton visit Sunderland in Gameweek 6, with Crystal Palace and Liverpool their next two opponents.
Should you sell Tzolis?
Tzolis is flagged with a hamstring injury and a 75% chance of playing at time of writing. He has returned 10 points over his last three fixtures, registering one assist and failing to hit the target with any of his four attempts.
However, Arsenal’s home fixture against Leeds is not, by itself, a compelling reason to sell.
Transfer verdict: This move combines an injury concern with an in-form budget replacement. Check the latest team news before deciding whether Tzolis needs replacing.
Szoboszlai to Groß ranks third in the transfer combinations table, displaying 2.0%.
The Liverpool midfielder has managed just eight points across his last three fixtures, despite recording four shots on target and three big chances created.
His 12.34 xFPL exceeds his actual return, suggesting his recent performances have offered more potential than his points total indicates. That does not guarantee an imminent haul, but it makes the decision less clear-cut than recent scores alone suggest.
Transfer verdict: Groß’s recent output makes him attractive, but Szoboszlai’s underlying numbers give existing owners a reason to consider holding.
This is arguably the most eye-catching move in the list. Bruno Fernandes to Schade ranks fourth, displaying 1.5%.
Schade costs £6.2m and has collected 26 points over his last three fixtures, with two goals, two assists and three bonus points.
However, his 16.05 xFPL is considerably below his actual return. With three shots on target during that spell, managers should be careful about treating his recent scoring rate as sustainable.
Brentford face Aston Villa away in Gameweek 6, followed by Liverpool and Hull.
Does Fernandes deserve more patience?
Fernandes has returned just six points over his last three fixtures, with no goals or assists. He has recorded eight attempts but only one shot on target, while his 11.56 xFPL suggests some underperformance.
Crucially, Manchester United host Spurs in Gameweek 6. That home fixture deserves consideration before moving him on, particularly with Leeds and Bournemouth following.
Transfer verdict: Schade can release funds for upgrades elsewhere, but selling Fernandes solely because of recent blanks risks overlooking his upcoming fixtures.
Szoboszlai to Schade ranks fifth in Transfer Analytics, also displaying 1.5%.
The recent points gap is substantial: 26 for Schade compared with eight for Szoboszlai. Yet their underlying totals are much closer, at 16.05 xFPL versus 12.34.
That matters. Schade has outperformed his expected return, while Szoboszlai has fallen short of his. The difference in recent FPL points may therefore exaggerate the gap between their performances.
Transfer verdict: Schade is a popular option, but assess how the move improves your wider squad rather than relying on the recent points difference alone.
Kostoulas has attracted 448,516 transfers in, making him the third most-bought player.
The £5.6m forward has produced 22 points over his last three fixtures, including two goals and two assists. His 10 shots and four attempts on target underline his attacking involvement.
His 15.35 xFPL sits below his actual return, so those numbers indicate recent overperformance rather than suggesting he should already have scored more points.
Why are managers selling Calvert-Lewin?
Calvert-Lewin faces Arsenal away in Gameweek 6, with a projected return of 3.4 points. That immediate fixture helps explain his 241,715 transfers out.
The direct switch to Kostoulas ranks seventh in the combinations table, displaying 1.2%.
Kostoulas visits Sunderland this week, while Calvert-Lewin’s subsequent opponents are Manchester United and Sunderland. Managers should weigh up the longer-term outlook before using a transfer to avoid one difficult match.
Transfer verdict: Kostoulas offers recent form, but consider whether replacing Calvert-Lewin is your squad’s most pressing priority.
Groß and Schade are the main destinations across several popular midfield swaps, while Kostoulas is attracting managers looking to change their forward line.
The Transfer Analytics network highlights these connections, including moves from Tzolis and Szoboszlai to Groß, and from Fernandes and Szoboszlai to Schade.

For managers looking for FPL Gameweek 6 transfer tips, these trends provide a useful starting point. However, popularity alone does not make a transfer right for your team.
Check injury updates, compare upcoming fixtures and consider where any savings would be spent before confirming your moves.
