Best Premium FPL Midfielder: Bruno Fernandes (TOT)

All of Bruno Fernandes’ attacking returns this season — three goals and one assist — came against Ipswich in Gameweek 2. However, his underlying numbers have remained strong.

He ranks third across all positions for attempted assists (13), behind only Morgan Gibbs-White (14) and Pascal Groß (15). No midfielder has taken more shots than his 19, while he has also registered four big chances.

As the image below from our Opta Player Heatmaps shows, Fernandes averaged 7.3 FPL points per game at Old Trafford last season.

Points Per Game for Bruno Fernandes in Home Matches predicting his points for FPL Gameweek 2

Manchester United have scored eight goals in their opening five matches, but their attacking numbers suggest scope for more. They lead the league for shots (113) and rank third for Expected Goals (xG), with 10.64.

Visitors Spurs sit bottom of the Premier League and have conceded eight goals. They rank 14th for shots conceded (76) and 12th for Expected Goals Conceded (xGC), with 8.43.

Our Player Points Projections tool predicts 6.4 FPL points for Fernandes in Gameweek 6.

Best Premium FPL Forward: Erling Haaland (liv)

Injury watch: Haaland is currently flagged as a doubt but is expected to be available. Monitor the latest team news before making your final decision.

Erling Haaland has scored five goals in five games, putting him joint-top of the scoring charts. He also leads all players for shots (20), shots on target (10), big chances (nine) and xG (4.73).

As the image below from our Match Centre shows, he is comfortably ahead of his Manchester City teammates for xG (4.7) and shots on target (10) over their last five league matches.

Last Five Games Stats for Man City players

Manchester City have scored 13 goals, with only Brighton (16) finding the net more often. They also rank third for big chances (17) and fourth for xG (10.53).

However, a trip to Liverpool presents a tougher test. The hosts have conceded just four goals and kept three clean sheets, ranking fifth for shots conceded (58) and third for xGC (6.58).

Our Player Points Projections tool predicts 6.1 FPL points for Haaland in Gameweek 6.

Best Budget FPL Midfielder: Josh King (ips)

Josh King has already scored twice this season and ranks fifth among midfielders for shots in the box (11).

He has also registered seven shots on target, a tally bettered only by Marcus Tavernier (eight) and Bukayo Saka (nine) in midfield.

As the image below from our Fixture Difficulty Ratings shows, Fulham have the most favourable attacking fixtures over the next five Gameweeks, making this an appealing time to bring King into your team.

Fixture Difficulty Ratings Gameweek 6-10

Fulham have scored just five goals in as many matches, but their underlying numbers offer encouragement. They rank fourth for shots in the box (55) and eighth for xG (8.89).

Hosts Ipswich Town have conceded 11 goals, with only Chelsea (12) conceding more. They also rank 19th for shots conceded (87) and 14th for xGC (9.97).

Our Player Points Projections tool predicts 4.2 FPL points for King in Gameweek 6.

Best Budget FPL Forward: Thierno Barry (hul)

Thierno Barry has scored twice in the opening five Gameweeks, but his underlying numbers suggest there could be more to come.

As the image below from our Opta Stats Sandbox shows, the 23-year-old ranks second only to Haaland across all positions for shots in the box (16), big chances (eight) and xG (3.84).

Expected Goals Stats for All Players

Everton have scored six goals in five matches. They rank fifth for shots (80) and 10th for big chances (12).

Hosts Hull City have made a solid defensive start, conceding just four goals and keeping three clean sheets. However, they rank 11th for shots conceded (69) and ninth for xGC (7.13), suggesting their defence may be less secure than those results imply.

Our Player Points Projections tool predicts 3.9 FPL points for Barry in Gameweek 6.

Best FPL Defender: Riccardo Calafiori (LEE)

Riccardo Calafiori offers attacking potential alongside Arsenal’s clean-sheet prospects for the visit of Leeds.

He has already registered two FPL assists in five Gameweeks. Only Joško Gvardiol and Maxim De Cuyper, with three each, have more among defenders.

The Italian also ranks third among defenders for Expected Assists (xA), behind only De Cuyper (1.17) and Ryan Giles (1.55).

Arsenal have conceded just four goals and kept three clean sheets in five matches. They have allowed the fewest shots in the box (26) and rank second for xGC (5.19).

Visitors Leeds have scored seven goals over the same period, ranking 14th for shots in the box (40) and 12th for xG (7.75).

Clean Sheet Probability Gameweek 6

Our Player Points Projections tool gives Arsenal a 50% chance of keeping a clean sheet and predicts 4.9 FPL points for Calafiori in Gameweek 6.
