FPL Gameweek 32: Top Five Key Players

In this blog the Top Five Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Key Players for Gameweek 32 are discussed. Every FPL Gameweek, picks will be in the below format:

1x Defender or Goalkeeper

2x Attackers less than £8.5m

2x Attackers £8.5m or over

Erling Haaland (cpl)

Haaland was completely rested for Man. City’s midweek win against Villa which places the Norwegian international in good stead to start against Palace at the weekend. He has scored eight goals in away matches this season with only Watkins (nine) being more prolific amongst forwards. As the Opta Stats Sandbox image below shows, he is top for shots on target (SoT), ‘big chances’ (BC) (24) and ‘Expected Goals’ (xG) (11.57). Man. City have scored nine goals over the last six Gameweeks (seventh) and are ranked third for shots (89). Their hosts Palace have conceded six goals over the same period (fourth) and have kept one clean sheet. The Eagles are ranked fifth for shots conceded (34) and ‘Expected Goals Conceded’ (xGC) (5.32). Heung-Min Son (NFO)

Spurs will be looking to get back to winning ways after dropping points at West Ham midweek, as the below image from our Match Stats feature shows, over Spurs’ last five matches he is top amongst their players for goals (three), SoT (six) and chances created (10), while he is third for xG (2.1). Spurs have scored 10 goals over the last six Gameweeks (sixth) with no side creating more BC (17) over that period. Their visitors Forest have conceded nine goals during the same period (eighth) and are ranked 10th for xGC (7.83). Our Predicted Points & Stats tool currently projects a point score of 6.1 for Son.

Cole Palmer (shu)

Palmer has racked up five goals and seven assists this season in away matches, with only Bowen (86), Son (92), Ødegaard (92) and Saka (98) faring better amongst midfielders. He is ranked eighth for shots (30) and has attempted 20 assists. As the below image from our Fix Heatmaps feature shows, he has averaged 5.7 FPL points per game in away matches this season. Chelsea have scored 24 goals on their travels (seventh) and are ranked ninth for xG (22.45). Their hosts Sheff. Utd. have conceded 12 goals over the last six Gameweeks (18th) and have kept no clean sheets. The Blades are ranked 17th for shots in the box (SiB) conceded (66) and 11th for xGC (8.50). Phil Foden (cpl)

Foden’s hattrick against Villa made it six goals in the last six Gameweeks for the England international. He is top for shots (20) and SoT (11) over that period while only B. Johnson (2.79) has registered a higher xG than his 2.62. As the below image from our Transfer Analytics feature shows, he is the second-most transferred in player for Gameweek 32. Man. City have scored 29 goals in away matches this season with only Spurs (31) and Arsenal (34) being more profitable in front of goal. The Manchester side are top for shots (259), SoT (116), BC (50) and xG (32.19) in away matches. Their hosts Palace have conceded 20 goals in 14 home matches this season and have kept three clean sheets. The Eagles are fifth for SiB conceded (156) and fourth for xGC (15.50). Rayan Ait-Nouri (WHU)

Ait-Nouri benefited from playing on the wing against Burnley and was unlucky not to come away with more than just one goal, the Algerian international is top amongst defenders over the last six Gameweeks for SoT (five) and BC (four), while only Burke (1.35) has a higher xG than his 1.27. Wolves have conceded seven goals in the last six Gameweeks and have kept one clean sheet. The Midlands side are ranked 10th for SiB conceded (48) and 12th for xGC (8.72). West Ham have scored 24 goals in away matches (seventh) but are ranked just 15th for SoT (59) on the road.
