Top Five Key Players for Fantasy Premier League 2025/26 Gameweek 3

Welcome to our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) guide for Gameweek 3!

Each week, we’ll highlight the top picks to help you make the smartest moves for your FPL team.

Here’s what we’ll focus on for each Gameweek:

FPL Headliner: Erling Haaland (bha)

Haaland and Man. City will be looking to bounce back from last weekend's defeat to Spurs as they travel to the Amex Stadium in Gameweek 3.

As shown in the below image from our Opta Stats Sandbox no player has been afforded more 'big chances' (four) over the opening two Gameweeks than the Norwegian international, while Richarlison (seven) is the only forward to have attempted more shots in the box than his six.

Man. City have scored four goals so far (fifth), but are fourth for 'big chances' (five) and fifth for 'Expected Goals' (xG) (3.11).

Their hosts Brighton have conceded three goals (12th) over the same period but are ranked second for shots in the box conceded (11). The Seagulls are ranked sixth for 'Expected Goals' conceded (2.29) over the opening two matches.

Top FPL Midfielder: Bruno Fernandes (BUR)

Bruno Fernandes was the Premier League’s most creative player last season, creating a league-high 91 chances. He registered 12 assists, bettered only by Jacob Murphy (13) and Mohamed Salah (18). This season, he’s picked up right where he left off—his six attempted assists in the opening two Gameweeks are second only to Stach (seven).

He found the back of the net eight times with only Eze (102), Cunha (110) Palmer, Semeyo (126 each) and Salah (130) attempting more shots than his 96.

Man. Utd. have scored just once over the opening two fixtures but the Red Devils are ranked top for shots in the box (24) and seventh for xG (3.36).

Burnley kept a clean sheet in Gameweek 2 but conceded three goals to Spurs on the opening weekend, Palace, West Ham and Everton (19) are the only sides to have conceded more shots in the box (18) this season than the Clarets.

Best Forward Pick: Chris Wood (WHU)

Wood got his 2025/26 campaign off to a stormer with a brace against Brentford on the opening day and will be looking to build on his home form as Forest host the struggling Hammers at the City Ground.

No Forest player attempted more shots in the box (57) or was afforded more 'big chances' (27) than the New Zealand international last campaign.

Forest have scored four goals over the opening two fixtures with only Spurs, Chelsea (five each), Arsenal (six) and Liverpool (seven) faring better. Meanwhile, only Chelsea (nine) have crafted more 'big chances' than their six.

Their visitors West Ham have conceded eight goals over the same period (20th) and are also ranked bottom for shots in the box conceded (19).

Best Budget Midfielder: Mohammed Kudus (BOU)

Kudus has had a strong start to his Spurs career with two assists over the opening matches, as shown in the below image from our Opta Stats Sandbox only Stach (seven) has created more chances than the Ghanaian international so far.

Creativity Stats for Players Fantasy Premier League 2025/26

Spurs are one of only three teams (Liverpool and Arsenal) to record wins across both their opening matches, the Lilywhites are ranked third for goals scored (five) and second for shots in the box (22).

Their visitors Bournemouth have conceded four goals so far with only Leeds, Wolves (five each) and West Ham (eight) faring worse. The Cherries are ranked 14th for shots in the box conceded (18) and 11th for xGC (2.78).

Top Defensive Asset: Nikola Milenković (WHU)

Milenković found the back of the net five teams last season, no defender fared better. The Serbian international was fourth for shots in the box (27) amongst defenders while only Gabriel (eight), Gvardiol and Muñoz (nine each) were afforded more 'big chances' than his seven.

Forest have conceded one goal in each of their first two matches but the underlying numbers have still been good. The Nottingham side are ranked sixth for shots in the box conceded (2.33) and eighth for xGC (2.33).

West Ham's bad start to the season got worse with a loss in the League Cup midweek, the Hammers have scored just once over the opening two league matches. They have created just one 'big chance' with only Wolves (zero) faring worse while only Villa (1.64), Palace (1.58) and Wolves (1.09) have registered a lower xG than their 1.68.
