Top Five Key Players for Fantasy Premier League 2025/26 Gameweek 23

Welcome to our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) guide for Gameweek 23!

Each week, we’ll highlight the top picks to help you make the smartest moves for your FPL team.

FPL Headliner: Erling Haaland (WOL)

Haaland has scored just three goals over the last six Gameweeks but will be looking to remedy that as the Manchester side host bottom-placed Wolves at the Etihad.

The Norwegian international reamains top amongst all players for shots (26) and 'Expected Goals' (xG) (5.16) over the last six Gameweeks, while only Watkins (nine) has been afforded more 'big chances' than his eight.

As shown in the image below from our Player Heatmaps feature, Haaland has averaged 8.1 FPL points per match in home games this season.

Man City have scored seven goals over the last six Gameweeks (ninth), the Cityzens are ranked third for shots in the box (68) and fourth for xG (12.65).

Their visitors Wolves have shown signs of improvement and have conceded just six goals in as many matches. The Midlands side are ranked eighth for shots in the box conceded (67) and fourth for 'Expected Goals Conceded' (xGC) (6.94).

According to our Predicted Points & Stats tool, Haaland is projected to score 7.8 points this Gameweek.

Top FPL Forward: Hugo Ekitiké (bou)

Ekitiké has scored just one goal over the last six Gameweeks but despite missing two games due to injury he is still ranked sixth amongst forwards for shots (15).

As shown in the image below from our Opta Stats Sandbox, he is also top for shots in the box (11) amongst Liverpool players over the aforementioned period, while only Wirtz (four) has been afforded more 'big chances' than his three.

Liverpool have scored seven goals over the last six Gameweeks (ninth) but will be looking to improve on that tally with Salah returning from the African Cup of Nations. The Merseyside outfit are ranked third for shots (91) and 10th for xG (11.96).

Their hosts Bournemouth have conceded 13 goals over the same period (20th) and have not kept a clean sheet. The Cherries are ranked 13th for both shots conceded (82) and xGC (10.20).

According to our Predicted Points & Stats tool, Ekitiké is projected to score 5.1 points this Gameweek.

Best FPL Midfielder: Harry Wilson (BHA)

The fourth-highest scoring FPL midfielder with 104 points, Wilson has racked up two goals and an assist over the last six Gameweeks for a total of 26 FPL points.

As the image below from our Match Centre feature shows, over the last five league games he ranks top among his team-mates for goals (two) and shots on target (six), while only Raúl (1.5) has a higher xG than his (1.2). Meanwhile, he also ranks third for chances created (seven).

Last Five Game Player Statistics for Fulham Fantasy Premier League 2025/26

Fulham have scored seven goals over the last six Gameweeks (ninth), the Cottagers are ranked 11th for shots (77) and 16th for xG (6.77).

Their visitors Brighton have conceded just six goals in as many matches, but the underlying numbers indicate that the Seagulls have been a bit fortunate. They are ranked 17th for shots conceded (86) and 19th for xGC (12.77).

According to our Predicted Points & Stats tool, Wilson is projected to score 4.3 points this Gameweek.

Best Mid-Priced Forward: Igor Thiago (NFO)

Thiago has scored five goals over the last six Gameweeks, no player across all positions has found the back of the net more often. The 24-year-old is ranked second for 'big chances' (eight) and xG (4.77) for that period.

Meanwhile, as shown in the image below from our Opta Stats Sandbox, Šeško (12) and Schade (12) are the only players to have landed more shots on target than his 11.

Brentford have scored 13 goals over the last six Gameweeks which is more than any other side. The Bees are ranked top for both 'big chances' (24) and xG (15.37).

Their visitors Forest have conceded nine goals over the same period, only Palace (10), West Ham (12) and Bournemouth (13) have fared worse. The Nottingham side are ranked 11th for both shots conceded (79) and xGC (9.96).

According to our Predicted Points & Stats tool, Thiago is projected to score 5.6 points this Gameweek.

Top Defensive Asset: James Tarkowski (LEE)

Tarkowski's eight-pointer against Villa made it 108 FPL points for the England international, only J.Timber (109), Chalobah (110) and Gabriel (120) have more amongst defenders.

He has accumulated 246 Defensive Contributions (DEFCON) this season, with only Senesi (267) faring better amongst defenders. This has led to him being awarded the additional two DEFCON points 16 times of a possible 22.

Everton have conceded six goals over the last six Gameweeks and have kept three clean sheets. No other side have kept more clean sheets over that period while only Brentford, Man City, Liverpool, Fulham (five each) and Arsenal (four) have conceded fewer goals. The Toffees are ranked 10th for xGC (9.88).

Their visitors Leeds have scored 10 goals over the last six Gameweks (third), the Yorkshire side are ranked seventh for shots in the box (58) and sixth for xG (12.25).
