If you are the sort of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) manager who enjoys going against the grain – or takes satisfaction from finding hidden gems before the crowd – then lowly selected players (differentials) can often provide value and offer a source of points which won’t be shared by many other managers. As long as the player picks are justifiable, differentials can give you an edge over your mini-league rivals.

In this article we look ahead to Gameweek 2 and find players from each position who are currently selected by less than 10% of managers, but could reward their owners in the upcoming Gameweeks.
With their tricky fixture against Liverpool out of the way, Chelsea now tops the table for teams with the best run of fixtures from a defensive perspective, according to the Fixture Planner.
All eyes will inevitably be on Ben Chilwell (£5.6m) who looked in his element as an integral part of the Chelsea attack, having clearly been offered licence to go forward by Pochettino. Quite often the most advanced Chelsea player on the pitch, Chilwell looked deadly, prompting an immediate price increase. But at £5.6m, investment in the English wing-back is not necessarily straight-forward, particularly for those with no cash in the bank.
An easier way into the Chelsea defence is Levi Colwill (£4.5m) who, while lacking the same sort of attacking potential of some other options, is a good £1m cheaper and therefore more readily accessible. Even for owners (or suitors) of Chilwell, Colwill is cheap enough to allow for a stronger bench option or even a Chelsea defensive double-up.
All eyes were on Aston Villa’s record-signing Moussa Diaby (£6.5m) who arrived at Villa Park from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer. The French winger certainly impressed on his debut, getting on the score sheet against a dominant Newcastle side. As well as the goal, Diaby managed 3 shots, 2 of which were on target and all from inside the box (Opta Player Heatmaps).

Aston Villa’s next fixture is a home game against Everton. If Diaby can put one away against one of the toughest defensive opponents in the league, then his prospects against a lesser side are even greater.
After what was an exciting and open game between two great attacking sides, the noise may have been surrounding James Maddison (£7.5m) and his two assists, but the former Leicester man took just 2 bonus points with Brentford forward Yoanne Wissa (£6.0m), who scored in the 2-2 draw, getting full bonus after earning 33 BPS, according to the Match Stats tool.
Next up for Wissa is a game against Fulham who, according to the Opta Stats Sandbox, were the third-worst team in terms of Expected Goals Conceded (xGC) and were very lucky to walk away from Goodison Park with a clean sheet, having conceded 19 shots (14 of which were in the box).
