Looking for the best FPL Gameweek 10 transfer tips for the 2026/27 season?
We have analysed the standout Gameweek 9 statistics, the most popular early transfers and which budget forwards to target.
Bournemouth assets remain popular picks in both attack and defence after three straight wins for the Cherries.
Brighton showed they’re the real deal by beating Manchester City at the Etihad, and they now have a favourable run of fixtures ahead.
Meanwhile, defenders continue to thrive, leaving FPL managers wondering whether to spend more on their backlines.
This blog explores these talking points, examines current market trends and compares the most popular transfer targets.
Jan Paul van Hecke tops the Custom Stats xFPL table for Gameweek 9 with a score of 15.5. The Dutch international had four shots in the box, including two big chances. He also kept a clean sheet against Crystal Palace, who barely threatened after Jean-Philippe Mateta’s red card.

Julio Enciso led all players with seven attempted assists in Gameweek 9. The Paraguay international also took five shots, one of which Opta classified as a big chance. He registered an xFPL score of 8.2.
Mohammed Kudus led Spurs with three attempted assists, including one big chance created. The Ghanaian international also took three shots in the box and registered an xFPL score of 7.7.
Estêvão Willian took more shots than any other player in Gameweek 9, with three of his six efforts coming from inside the box. He also recorded three attempted assists. However, he neither had nor created a big chance, which helps explain his relatively modest xFPL score of 4.4.
Erling Haaland was the most-captained player in Gameweek 9. His four shots in the box put him joint-top for the Gameweek, but Brighton limited him to one big chance. He finished with an xFPL score of 5.3.
The expected FPL points (xFPL) model estimates how many points a player’s performance was likely to produce. The calculation uses underlying data including expected goals, expected assists, expected clean sheets, appearance points and projected bonus points.
It is best used to assess the quality of a player’s performance rather than simply looking at his final FPL score.
Evanilson is the most-bought player ahead of Gameweek 10 after four goals in as many Gameweeks. Over 350,000 managers had transferred him in at the time of writing, according to our Transfer Analytics tool.

More than two million FPL managers bought Nicolas Jackson ahead of Gameweek 9, and nearly 300,000 more have brought him in since his goal against Fulham.
Marcus Tavernier blanked against Leeds, but more than 200,000 managers have still bought the winger.
Alexander Isak also remains popular despite blanking against Arsenal. Some managers may be eyeing him as a captaincy option against a struggling Crystal Palace side.
João Pedro, meanwhile, continues to lose owners as his return date remains unclear.
Four players from the two Manchester clubs are also among those being sold after disappointing Gameweek 9 performances: Rayan Cherki, Bruno Fernandes, Bryan Mbeumo and Joško Gvardiol.
Evanilson is this week’s most popular forward target. The switch from João Pedro to Evanilson also ranks first among transfer combinations across all positions (23.7%).

Isak and N.Jackson are also popular replacements for João Pedro with Gonzalo Garcia, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dominic Solanke and Yoane Wissa the other forwards being sold.
Cherki to Tavernier is the most popular midfield move with Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers also popular replacements for the French international.
FPL managers have also lost patience with Kevin Schade and Morgan Gibbs-White after successive blanks, both are making way for the aforementioned Chelsea duo.
Johan Manzambi is also a popular replacement with Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo on their way out.
Van Hecke dominates the defender transfers after his haul against the Eagles, the Dutch international appears in 6 of the top 10 transfer combinations.
Ezri Konsa is also a popular target along with Antonio Silva and Maxim De Cuyper.
Meanwhile, Gvardiol, Lewis Hall, John Egan, Semi Ajayi, Bobby Thomas and Neco Williams are some of the defenders being sold.
Seven of the 15 highest-scoring FPL players are defenders. Four stand out around the £5.0m mark for their multiple routes to points. Luka Vušković leads the group with 58 FPL points, followed by Jan Paul van Hecke (53), Tarik Muharemović (46) and António Silva (37).
The Fix Comparison Matrix shows how the four defenders compare.

Only De Cuyper (69) has scored more FPL points among defenders than Vušković (58). The Croatian international has taken 15 shots, the most of the four defenders in this comparison. He also ranks second for big chances (four).
Silva made a slow start as Bournemouth adjusted to life under new manager Marco Rose, but he has scored 24 FPL points over the last three Gameweeks. He has also taken six shots, three of which Opta classified as big chances.

Bournemouth rank third for defensive fixture difficulty over the next eight Gameweeks in our Fixture Difficulty Ratings.
Muharemović has become a regular starter since joining Leeds in the summer. He has already registered two FPL assists and taken seven shots in his first nine matches.
There is clean sheet potential, too. Leeds have conceded just eight goals this season. Only Brighton (seven) and Arsenal (five) have conceded fewer.
Van Hecke leads the four defenders for both big chances (five) and shots on target (four). The Dutch international also ranks first for attempted assists (10), adding to his appeal.

As the above image from our AI Rotation Optimiser shows, a pairing of Muharemović and Van Hecke offers a favourable run of fixtures over the next 10 Gameweeks with five games against promoted sides.
