FPL Gameweek 4 Captain Picks

Erling Haaland (mun)—Highest-Projected Scorer

Erling Haaland has found the back of the net three times in as many games this season, the Norwegian international is top amongst all players for shots in the box (13), shots on target (eight), big chances (five) and 'Expected Goals' (xG) (2.67).

Manchester City have scored seven goals over the opening three Gameweeks, only Brighton and Chelsea (eight each) have been more prolific. The Manchester side are ranked fourth for both shots in the box (38) and xG (7.03).

Their derby rivals Manchester United have conceded six goals and have not kept a clean sheet. The Red Devils are ranked ninth for shots in the box conceded (25) and seventh for 'Expected Goals Conceded' (xGC) (4.12).

Cole Palmer scored two goals off the bench against Leeds in the Carabao Cup midweek to add to his tally of two goals and one assist in the league.

The 24-year-old has attempted 12 shots over the first three Gameweeks, only Bruno Fernandes (15) has attempted more amongst midfielders. No midfielder has attempted more shots in the box than his nine. He has also attempted six assists and created one big chance.

Chelsea are ranked top for goals scored (eight) over the opening three Gameweeks, the Blues are also ranked sixth for big chances (10) and third for xG (7.15).

Their visitors Hull are the only team yet to concede in the league but the underlying numbers indicate that the Tigers have been fortunate. The Promoted side are ranked 14th for shots conceded (45) and sixth for xGC (3.92).

Kai Havertz (sun)—The Differential Captain

Kai Havertz was benched midweek for Arsenal against Napoli in the Champions League which bodes well for his minutes against Sunderland on the weekend.

The German international has two goals over the opening three Gameweeks and as shown in the image below from our Opta Stats Sandbox, he has attempted four shots in the box, only Bukayo Saka (seven) has attempted more amongst Arsenal players.

Arsenal have scored six goals over the opening three fixtures, the Gunners are ranked ninth for shots (43) and seventh for xG (6.07).

Their hosts Sunderland have conceded three goals in as many matches and have kept one clean sheet. The Black Cats are ranked third for shots conceded (33) and fourth for xGC (3.62).
