As the below image shows, J. Timber tops the Custom Stats xFPL table for Gameweek 2 with a score of 12.1. The Dutch international took three shots in the box, landed two on target and attempted two assists.
Semenyo and Watkins both registered four shots in the box, but the Cherries midfielder edged it for threat and creativity. He was handed two big chances compared to just one for Watkins and also attempted three assists to the England forward’s single key pass. That translated into a stronger xFPL score of 8.5 vs 4.8.
The Gameweek’s most creative players were Minteh, Ward-Prowse, Dewsbury-Hall, and Evanilson, each producing four attempted assists. All four also created one big chance, resulting in xFPL scores of 4.4, 3.5, 3.7, and 3.1 respectively.
João Pedro finished as the joint-second highest scorer of the Gameweek with 15 FPL points. The Brazilian international had three shots (two inside the box) and laid on two big chances—both converted. His efforts returned an impressive xFPL of 9.0, bettered only by O. Dango (9.2), Gyökeres (9.3), Calafiori (9.7), and J. Timber (12.1).
xFPL is calculated primarily using expected goals (xG), assists (xA), which combine as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements (xG + xA = xI), as well as expected clean sheets (xCS). These numbers are a result of underlying statistics (i.e. shot type and location will give a probability of scoring = xG). xFPL is the combination of these statistics and factors in appearance and bonus points to give an overall expected FPL point score.
As shown in the below image from our Transfer Analytics feature, João Pedro is currently the most transferred in player with nearly 500,000 FPL managers bringing him in at the time of writing.
Semenyo and Richarlison are also popular after consecutive returns in the opening Gameweeks while West Ham's porous defence has tempted nearly 300,000 FPL managers to buy Wood who faces the Hammers next.
Palmer was a late withdrawal for Chelsea and the England international's length of absence is currently unknown. Over 800,000 FPL managers have parted ways with the England international while Frimpong, Saka and Aït-Nouri are also seeing transfers out after picking up injuries.
A look at the Top 10 Forward transfer combinations shows that transfers are fairly scattered with Watkins to Haaland the most popular combination at 10.3%. Fullkrug, Bowen and Guiu are the other Forwards making way with João Pedro, Wood and Richarlison the popular acquisitions.
As the below image from the Top 10 Midfield transfer combinations shows, the transfers out for Midfielders are even more scattered with Kudus and Semenyo the primary beneficiaries from the Palmer transfers out. Wirtz is also being sold in droves with FPL managers opting for Anderson, Cunha, Johnson and Gakpo in addition to Kudus and Semenyo.
The Top 10 Defender transfer combinations are dominated by transfers out for Wan-Bissaka and Frimpong. Cash, Cucurella, Aït-Nouri, Van de Ven, Livramento, Virgil, Dorgu, Spence and Calafiori are some of the defenders being bought with the transfers well spread out.
Semenyo and Kudus are both popular acquisitions this week with managers looking for replacements for the injured Saka and Palmer.
As the above image from our Player Heatmaps feature shows, Semenyo has racked up 21 FPL points over the opening two fixtures, more than any other player. Kudus is ninth amongst midfielders with 13 FPL points.
As the stats in the above image from our Player Heatmaps feature shows, Semenyo is more of a goal scorer while Kudus is a creator. Semenyo has racked up a whopping 1.98 xG over the opening two matches with Kudus managing just 0.07. He has taken seven shots and landed three attempts on target, while Kudus has attempted just two shots and is yet to test the opposition keeper.
However, Kudus has attempted six assists with only Stach (seven) faring better across all positions while Semenyo has attempted just three.
As the above image from our Fixture Difficulty Ratings shows, Spurs are ranked top for 'Attack Difficulty' over the next six Gameweeks while Bournemouth are ranked seventh. Both players look like great buys with Kudus perhaps having the edge due to the kinder fixture schedule.
