Expected FPL Points Review - A look at the stats

As the below image shows, Calafiori tops the Custom Stats xFPL table for Gameweek 1 so far with a score of 10.9. The Italian international scored from his only shot in the box as Arsenal kept at clean sheet at Old Trafford.

Stats Table for Gameweek 1

No player took more shots in the box (six) or was afforded more 'big chances' than Haaland, the Norwegian international was second for xFPL (10.6) and top for xG (1.40) over the weekend.

Kudus, B. Fernandes and Cullen were the weekend's most creative player with five attempted each, however none of the trio created a single 'big chance' which led to low xFPL scores of 5.1, 4.1 and 3.1 respectively.

Salah found the net late on, much to the relief of millions of FPL managers who handed the Egyptian international the armband, he took three shots in the box and attempted two assists, notching an xFPL score of 6.2.

Gordon led the way for shots (seven), the England international led the line for the Magpies and had one 'big chance', he registered an xFPl score of 6.1 and could be one to watch if he continues playing out of position.

What is xFPL?

xFPL is calculated primarily using expected goals (xG), assists (xA), which combine as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements (xG + xA = xI), as well as expected clean sheets (xCS). These numbers are a result of underlying statistics (i.e. shot type and location will give a probability of scoring = xG). xFPL is the combination of these statistics and factors in appearance and bonus points to give an overall expected FPL point score.

Early FPL Transfer Activity Analysed - Which players are FPL managers buying and selling?

As shown in the below image from our Transfer Analytics feature, Reijnders is currently the most transferred in player with nearly 50,000 FPL managers bringing him in at the time of writing.

Gameweek 2 Transfer Activity

Semenyo, Ekitiké, Wood and Ballard all delivered double-digit hauls at the weekend, making them some of the most popular transfer targets. They’re joined by Haaland, Kudus and Richarlison to complete the top eight players being brought in.

On the other side, Wirtz leads the way for sales. Over 200,000 FPL managers have moved him on after his blank against Bournemouth, while the absent duo of Gvardiol and Isak have also each been transferred out by more than 200,000 managers.

As the below image from the Top 10 Forward transfer combinations shows, Watkins, Bowen and João Pedro are the forwards making way with Ekitiké, Haaland and Wood the top targets.

Top Forward Transfer Combinations Gameweek 2

The Top 10 Midfield transfer combinations is dominated by Reijnders with the Dutch international accounting for eight of the 10 midfielder transfers in, with Semenyo occupying the other two spots. Wirtz, Anderson, Marmoush and Rogers are some of the popular players being sold.

The Top 10 Defender transfer combinations is more spread out, Ballard, Reinildo, Aït-Nouri, Cash and Virgil are all popular with Konsa the most sold defensive asset. Frimpong is also seeing significant sales after his early substitution.

Form Forwards - Richarlison vs Wood

Richarlison and Wood both braced over the weekend and are popular transfer targets for FPL managers going into Gameweek 2.

Stats Comparison Richarlison vs Wood

As the above image from our Player Heatmaps feature shows, Richarilson had more goal threat than Wood with the Brazilian international superior for shots (five vs two), shots in the box (five vs two), shots on target (three vs two) and xG (0.82 vs 0.70).

Fixture Difficulty Ratings Gameweek 2-6

As the above image from our Fixture Difficulty Ratings shows, Spurs and Forest are ranked first and second for 'Attack Difficulty' over the next six Gameweeks so there is not much to split the two forwards in terms of schedule. However, Wood's gametime maybe more secure than Richarlison's with Solanke nearing fitness for Spurs.
