Copenhagen Wednesday, one of the highly experienced Elite XI: Team Reveal managers, has endured a challenging start to the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2025/26 season.
Despite this, he has a clear plan in mind to turn things around — and it could involve deploying the Free Hit chip in Gameweek 4.
He boasts an impressive FPL record, with six top 10k, four top 5k, and even a top 1k finish to his name in previous seasons.
Now, readers are eagerly watching how he will navigate this difficult start.
As he explains:
“Captaincy has been the thin line between me and disaster so far. Salah’s stoppage-time goals in Gameweek 1 and Gameweek 2, followed by Bruno’s penalty in Gameweek 3, have been the difference between clinging on and being cut adrift.”
Copenhagen Wednesday acknowledges the brutal swings of variance in FPL:
“The Wood punt ticked all the boxes on paper: decent fixtures, nailed striker, value price point. In practice, Forest imploded, looked like Sheffield Wednesday, and Wood was hooked before he could do anything. Good process, bad outcome, and all you can do is shrug.”
Here’s how the six-time Top 10k finisher’s team looks before activating the chip on the Elite XI: Team Reveal tool.
Some players already have favourable fixtures — captain Salah faces newly promoted Burnley away, while a Crystal Palace double-up of Mateta and Richards take on Sunderland at home.
But with FPL managers now having two of every chip, could this be the perfect moment for the Elite Manager to unleash his Free Hit in Gameweek 4?
Despite the difficult start, his plan is firmly in motion:
“That said, the strategic path remains clear. The Free Hit in Gameweek 4 is locked. It’s not just for fun — it gives me a week to aggressively chase fixtures while positioning for what comes after.”
He notes the risks too:
“The catch is obvious: you don’t get a new squad after a Free Hit. In Gameweek 5, I’ll be right back with my Villa players, only by then they’ll be worth tuppence.”
Here’s how the Elite Manager’s potential Free Hit team for Gameweek 4 shapes up in the Future Planner tool. The tool allows you to save up to five drafts, and this team is currently projected to score 57 points.
The Elite XI manager also outlined his first Free Hit draft:
“The first draft looks like Raya; Virgil, Muñoz, Scar, Gabriel; Salah, Sarr, Elanga; Ekitike, Gyökeres, Mateta. Nothing nailed down, plenty subject to flags and usual International break nonsense.”
Interestingly, he’s even questioning the default Salah captaincy:
“Even Salah’s stranglehold on captaincy isn’t quite as secure as it looks. Across the first three gameweeks, Fix’s xFPL model actually has both Gakpo and — especially — Ekitiké outscoring him.”
xFPL is calculated primarily using expected goals (xG), assists (xA), which combine as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements (xG + xA = xI), as well as expected clean sheets (xCS). These numbers are a result of underlying statistics (i.e. shot type and location will give a probability of scoring = xG). xFPL is the combination of these statistics and factors in appearance and bonus points to give an overall expected FPL point score.
Copenhagen Wednesday is already looking beyond Gameweek 4:
“My revised chip plan has me dead-ending into a Wildcard in Gameweek 7 or 8, and in its simplest form that’s about moving from Mo to Erling. But which version of City will show up in the meantime?”
As he summarises:
“So three gameweeks in, the story of my season so far is one of narrow escapes and half-baked plans, but also of structure and patience. Free Hit 4 into Liverpool, Palace and Newcastle fixtures, Wildcard Gameweek 7/8 for the Arsenal swing, and captaincy as my safety net. It hasn’t been pretty, but it’s a process.”
Will Copenhagen Wednesday confirm the Free Hit chip in Gameweek 4? His draft is still far from finalised, and with the international break ahead there will undoubtedly be injuries and other developments that could change his plans.
