With a just-above-average score in Gameweek 2, Walter has dropped down the ranks after a sensational start in Gameweek 1. Double-digit returns from his two Brighton assets were just about the only thing to write home about with Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) and Ollie Watkins (£8.0m) seemingly (and surprisingly!) off penalties for the 2023/24 season (although for the former, this looks like it could have been a one-off decision).

Walter joined the 67.5% of managers who put the armband on Erling Haaland (£14.0m) despite a tricky fixture against Newcastle. He, and his fellow captainers, were subject to a rare blank from the Norwegian in City’s 1-0 win.
Walter has saved his free transfer from Gameweek 2 and so has two free transfers going into Gameweek 3. This is just as well, as there are a number of areas which may require attention.
First of all, Gabriel (£5.0m) being benched for a second consecutive game, has once again raised eyebrows, as Arteta seems set to persevere with the new tactical set up. Worse still, the Arsenal defender is being brought on late in the second half, meaning as well as not being able to avail of clean sheets, he also blocks points from the bench.
The Manchester United midfield double-up has also been problematic. Marcus Rashford (£9.0m) and Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) have jointly earned just 7 points in two Gameweeks. A meagre return for a combined £17.5m investment. This is particularly irksome in light of much larger scores from cheaper alternatives. Manchester United have had a slow start to the season and Rashford does not seem at ease as a centre-forward, while Bruno picks up from where he left off last season: not returning FPL points, despite playing well.
I have two free transfers and a number of targets. Unsurprisingly, I'm looking at Brentford, with their form and fixtures, and probably Chelsea (fixtures yes, form not so much). The #1 target is of course Mbeumo: we knew he was a good pick so why is he not in my squad already? Although surely he won't get a penalty every week; he's going to beat Haaland's record at this rate. The problem is, who to sell? That would be a Man United midfielder before Nottingham Forest. They've been bad, but that could also backfire.
According to the Fixture Planner the top five teams to target for attack are Everton, Chelsea, Spurs, Manchester City and Brentford, although managers will almost certainly discount the former based on how toothless they continue to prove themselves.
If Gabriel is still a problem, then I'm looking at Rico Henry. Finally, another move could be Watkins to Jackson or Wissa. We know Watkins is now off penalties (not a huge surprise given his record), and fixtures are a bit mixed now. Jackson/Chelsea have the fixtures, although they're still in the market for a striker (apparently), and given it's Chelsea there's still time to buy another 10/15 players.
